Talking snakes and donkeys, floating axe heads, people being swallowed by fish, parting of waters and virgin births all seem improbable if not impossible. And this is where I can have some common ground with the Atheist. Those things and many other stories from the Bible all seem impossible. That's why the Easter story is my favorite. The Christmas story is sweet and I do enjoy that season immensely, but if not for Easter my faith and beliefs are all a sham.

If Jesus Christ died on that cross and then three days later rose from the dead, well then all of those other miracles mentioned in the Bible don't seem like to big a stretch.

Why do people fight this so story so hard? Some say Jesus never actually died. Some say he died but the tomb He was buried in contained certain conditions that helped heal Him. The most common conspiracies have to do with the disciples stealing the body, while others say the disciples didn't even know where He was buried. Some say that everyone who saw Christ alive after the crucifixion was hallucinating. BTW there were 17 post resurrection appearances and He was seen by over 500 people during that time. Some try to convince you Jesus had a look a like running around pretending to be Jesus. And then of course there are those who still want to believe Jesus never really even existed.

I believe people want to discredit this story because if this event never took place then Jesus Christ is no different than any other man made god and Christianity is just another club with no answers leading nowhere accept death. But Christ overcame death and in doing so; not only makes all the miracles in the Bible seem like child's play but gives everyone else the opportunity to defeat death as well.

Dear Atheist friend I have no axe to grind with you. I'm good, it's all good, but before you totally turn away from the idea that Christ is alive and well- please remember your views (tho they may seem valid to you) are nothing new. Minutes after Christ arose from the dead there were people doubting, mocking, scoffing, denying and inventing stories to cover something up.

"Why is it that Atheists know the Bible better than Christians?" Do Atheists really believe this or is this just part of their endearing nature? I know Atheists not only enjoy being morally superior to Christians but also more knowledgeable about God's word. I am here only to encourage my dear atheist friends. But if I can't always be an encouragement maybe you can at least gain some insight on why this is the dumbest quote I ever heard.

First of all their are very few atheists that know anything in the Bible other than a few verses where their are either babies being dashed against rocks or how our it's pro-slavery or anti-woman. And like most good atheists they are convinced that their interpretation is flawless while the person who actually believes in the Bible's message is completely wrong. Also an Atheist reads the Bible without ever considering it's God's word. Lastly, I know there are many people who read the Bible for most of their life only to become atheists later. But those people who read it and then left the faith thinking this book was fairy-tales or ancient myths never got it to begin with. You may know all the stories, commandments, Disciples names, miracles, the names of the books who wrote them and a bunch of other odd or strange things about the Bible, but trust me on this, you don't know the first thing about the Bible.

1st Corinthians 2:14-16 "The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man's judgment: For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

Is it a deal breaker for you that your belief (or lack there of) in God is because you can't understand why He does things His way? You guys usually ask some fair questions about why God would..... or how come He didn't..... or you'd think logically He would have done it this way or that way. "His Lordship the Guntoting Atheist" was the latest to ask me a question like this. So instead of me trying to answer a question that really doesn't have one, let me try another approach.

Is it so hard to believe that if there is a God who created the world in 6 literal days and knows what everyone in the world is thinking at the same time and is in control of every molecule, that maybe, just maybe He has His reasons why He does things His way?

Logically I have no idea why Whoopi Goldberg is famous? I can't understand logically why Nebraska football joined the Big Ten. Sheez, for that matter I can't explain logically why there are like 12 or 13 teams in the Big Ten? Please explain to me logically what the hell Beyonce sees in Jay Z? I've been married for over 26 years and still can't figure out why my wife does things her way... her ways aren't logical to me. Tonight she wants to go on a walk for the health of it, but she wants to walk to the ice cream shop for a chocolate malt. You figure it out.

I like God, so maybe I just give Him the benefit of the doubt? But don't let facts get mixed up with stupid. When you think of God assume He is really, really, really smart.

Atheists aren't religious and atheism is not a religion. If you don't believe me just ask one. There are also many other religions around our world besides Christianity. And of course inside the Christian faith there are many denominations.

So if an Atheist could pick a world wide view or philosophy what would they choose?

Before you answer let me warn you, people like me believe that whatever you put before God is your faith, religion or idol. It is after all what you worship? That's not a put down, if you don't believe in God it shouldn't be a problem for you to put other things ahead of Him. Besides Christians tend to put things in front of God as well.

Why not Christ?

Atheists and Christians have many things in common. One of which is that we want to live our life our way. We want to do it in a way that seems right in our own eyes. And we certainly don't want to be told by anyone else what is right or wrong. Whether that comes to us by the way of others, some god or any old books.

Another thing Atheists and Christians have in common is that they like to change God instead of having God change them. The Atheist says "there can't be God because if there was one then he did it all wrong, He should have done it like the way I would have done it". Christians do this all the time as well. They believe in God but would rather change what His word says to fit around their life style then to conform to the way we should be.

Also Atheists and Christians both think that God is gonna judge mankind on some kind of curve. God is not gonna judge you on how your life looks like next to Hitler's life or the life of my homeslice Charlie Manson's. (also from Cincinnati). I think some Atheists think in the small chance that there is a God, that they will be able to convince God they are good enough to avoid judgement based upon the own efforts. But none of us can get to God on our own merits, wisdom or goodness. Not Mother Teresa, not feeno and not you.

Mother Teresa is with the Lord because she repented of her sins. feeno will be with the Lord because he repented of his sins. Judas is in hell, not because he betrayed Jesus, but because he never believed in Christs message.

A Believers sin isn't better or worse than the Atheists sin. But when God sees my sins, He sees them through the cross. Which means my sins are forgiven. Although everyone has the freedom to make their own decisions in life, they are not free to choose the consequences of those decisions.

Why Christ?

The first 2 chapters in the Bible tell us how we got here.

The 3rd chapter tells us about how man screwed up and sinned against God.

The Rest of the Bible, except for a few things in Revelation is God trying to fix what man screwed up.

When God created man life was easy. There were no droughts, floods or natural disasters of any kind. Food grew out of the ground at ease. No one got sick and no one would ever die. As a matter of fact no animals or plant life would ever die either.

So because of our sin, death was brought upon the human race. Now we will all die. So God had a plan to fix death. His plan was to send Christ (God incarnate) into the world to live a sinless life and to die on the cross for the sins of mankind. So now those of us who put our faith in that fact are no longer held under the penalty of sin.

Romans 5:10-11 For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled we shall be saved by His life. "And not only this, but we also exult in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

P.S. Romans chapter 5 might be something worth reading before bed time tonight?

heaven on earth

Hmmm I'm a bit out of practice and haven't blogged in quite awhile, but my mind is never far off from thinking about or praying for many atheists. I liked and have missed the inter action with everyone but like always I usually lose interest in things. I was actually a bit surprised I blogged for as long as I did. And even more surprised that I actually learned how to turn a computer on and blog. If your an atheist and have stumbled on this site I hope my thoughts will at least challenge you to examine your stance. It's been about 4 months since I've written anything. I have checked out some old familiar sites I used to visit only to be discouraged by the gloomy atheist sites and their sad assessments.

I'm not here to pick a fight with you, I wish it was that easy. There's a real good chance I could kick your ass in about 10 seconds? I do think however that the atheist v. christian internet battles usually end up in name calling with neither side even wanting to hear anything unless it helps their own selfish point of view. That said, please feel free to leave any comment you wish. I'm very hard to offend.
So what thoughts of mine got me back behind my keyboard..........?

As I plow through life- like many of you I enjoy so much about it. I love food, all kinds of food. I love my family and my friends, so going out to eat with friends and family is a big time for me. And tho I'm not setting any records on making money I do enjoy my job. I like hangin' with the fellas at work as we meet new homeowners while beautifying their homes. I like to sneak away at lunch and smash a pizza and a cold PBR with my boy Gonz. I like talking to my daughters about God, boys, school, friends and their life ahead of them. I enjoy my wife's company and all the fringe benefits that comes along with. I Love being at church and being surrounded by other Believers as we praise our God. College football, college basketball, baseball are also cool things. An occasional pick-up game of wiffle ball or basketball or even me showing off and throwing a football 70 yards in front of a bunch of 6th, 7th and 8th graders is good stuff. I could continue to ramble but...

But.... what about all the bad stuff that happens in life? Death, disease, divorce, violence, starvation's, back stabbings, hate, loneliness, despair and all the other horrible things we have to endure while we are on this earth?

Those last things are Hell. But for the Believer it's the only Hell they will ever see. And all the good things I mentioned is the only Heaven an Atheist will ever see. That's what I was thinking about today that prompted me to write.

I'd like to write a little bit about Heaven/Hell. Maybe next time? Welcome or welcome back if you've stumbled across my blog.

I don't have a problem with the "political correctness" movement. For the most part it's really just being polite. Some people get upset when they can't use certain words that others are able to say or use. But why should that even matter? I don't drop F bombs or use the Lord's name in vain just because other people do it. And it also just so happens I don't use any slang or offensive labels to identify different groups of people. But should I pick up that habit because others "get" to do it?

Having said that, I'm not a fan of the hyphenated American. If you think it's a good idea think about this: Let's suppose the hyphenated American idea was some old white racist blowhards idea. And he held a highly publicized news conference in which he said "from now on, all black people in the USA should be referred to as African-Americans". Now ask yourself how you think people would have responded?

Why do I bring this up? It's because people tend to take sides on issues based on what their "group" says and not always what they think themselves. My Brother-in-law was at a "Right to Life rally" and was stunned to learn that the dude he'd been talking to for awhile and another "pro-lifer" was in fact an atheist. And I have a Christian friend whose "doctrinal beliefs" (What a churches core beliefs are) change whenever he changes churches.

I love my church and for the most part am comfortable with most of our "doctrinal beliefs". But not all of them and not even sure about many others? What I am convinced of Is this; That Christ came to offer himself as a sacrifice for man's sins to a Holy God. He died on the cross. And on the 3rd day he arose.

Atheists are officially off the hook?

Maybe Christians expect to much out of Atheists? After all an Atheist owes nothing to God. God does not ask the Atheist to suffer for Him. He doesn't call the Atheist to serve Him. The Atheist isn't expected to be separate from the ideologies of the world. These are only things that the Christian is expected to do.

The Church is here primarily to love and glorify God. Then we are to take care of each other inside the church as we evangelize to those who are outside the church. Once again the Atheist has no roll in this plan, so in my opinion they don't owe God anything.

When someone accepts Christ they are the ones who are responsible for their actions and motives to why they do things. Christians are the ones who will be judged by Christ for how they controlled their "old nature". Or how we spent our time and our money. How we treated others or used the talents God gave us.

I owe God my life, and am grateful. The Atheist doesn't believe God created any life yet alone their life. Yet many will say that if there is a God they didn't ask for life so they still don't owe God anything. When I hear statements like these; I'm wondering if they are trying to convince somebody they are right... or if they are pleading their case to God... just in case?

What, you wanted some sappy "I missed you and can't live without you" speech? Sorry you soft little bitches.

When someone dies they have a visitation followed by the funeral. Then afterward everyone usually ends up at a church or someones house for green bean casseroles, ham sandwiches, deserts, chips and a barrage of 2-liter sodas.

Death doesn't care if someone is a Christian or an Atheist. And green bean casseroles will give anyone the runs. So what are the differences if any between an Atheist funeral and a Christian funeral?

If you talk to most Christian Preachers they will tell you that they never feel comfortable doing a funeral for someone who wasn't a Believer. It's hard for them to be encouraging or to comfort the dead persons family and friends.

The Apostle Paul tells the Thessalonian church that it's OK to grieve for those Christian loved ones we have lost. (Grieving is normal), but he says not to grieve like those who have no hope. I've heard or read that verse many times. I've heard it at many funerals as well. For a Christian, I understand it's meaning. But I never thought about what it might mean to those who don't believe they will ever see those dead people ever again?

1 Thessalonians 4:13 brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who have fallen asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope.

What does this verse mean to you if anything?

A Small Glitch in the Perfect Atheist Life?
Just imagine it's a beautiful winter morning, nearing Christmas in your lovely Communist community. And as you and your sexy wife (Madalyn Murray O'Hare maybe) are sitting at your kitchen table reading Sagan watching snowflakes gently fall to the ground you realize just how good life is. Hell, there isn't even a Nativity Scene with in a hundred miles of your commune err I mean neighborhood. You and Madalyn are wearing your matching WWMSTD bracelets, (what would mao tse tung do) anyways life just couldn't be better.... but then little Suzie your only daughter and one of your 1.5 kids and the cutest little Atheist in pig tales that you've ever seen, comes in and asks "Mommy, Daddy my friend from school (Karl Marx elementary school) wants to know if I can go to Sunday School with her, can I go please"?

With all the gains atheism has made, do you guys think atheism is really accepted in society?

Last week I had to take a buddy of mine to court. It was an old matter but he had to see a Judge and yadda, yadda, yadda. But I got to see a bunch of poor saps pleading and begging the Judge to keep them out of Jail/Prison. A couple of these guys actually played the "going to church card". They'd tell the Judge how they were clean and sober and looking for work, and how "I'm also going to Church again".

That got me thinking about how when people would get pulled over by the Cops for speeding or something, they'd tell the officer, "I'm sorry Officer, I was on my way to church and didn't realize I was speeding blah, blah, blah.

Or my favorite, the used car salesman that would tell a prospect; "Oh yeah, this car has had only one owner. And it was a little old lady who just drove it to church on Sundays". (Like knowing a Christian owned it meant it was really taken care of)

Will we ever see the day when a used car salesman tells somebody; "Oh yeah, this car has had only one owner, and it was an Atheist that only drove it to a Star Trek convention once a year. Or someone actually having enough balls to tell the Judge; "Your Honor, I'm clean and sober and doing great. I joined an atheist book club and everything.

When you guys can open a day-care business and the sign out front reads "Atheist owned and operated" and still manage to stay in business, then I think you've finally made it.

Christians look at an Atheist and think to themselves..."Why don't they get it? And how come they don't or wont believe"?

Atheists look at a Christian and think to themselves..."Why don't they get it? And how come they believe or why do they choose to believe"?

Of course I'm just assuming people do this. But what is the difference in either accepting or rejecting Christ?

Here's a story about two guys who were a lot alike. They both were thieves. they both stole so much the spent time in jail. Then they kept on stealing until they got sentenced to death. They were gonna be crucified the same day as Jesus. On the way to the cross they both watched everyone taunting Jesus and spitting on Jesus and the soldiers flogging Jesus and people laughing at and mocking Jesus. On the way to the cross they were both also part of the mocking. One of the thieves even says "You saved the world, if your the Christ save yourself and us too". But then something clicked in this other thieves mind. Once Jesus cries out "Father forgive them, for they don't know what their doing". Because this thief says to the other thief "Look dork, we deserve to die for what we have done, but this guy is totally innocent". Then he says to Jesus "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom."

You ex-Christians don't need me to tell you what Jesus' reply was. But here it is anyways. Jesus says to the repentant thief "I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise".

Some day I'll be in paradise too. Along with that thief and a bunch of other rif-raf. I wont be there because I'm better than anyone else, I'll be there because an innocent man died on the cross for me.

I'm sorry I've been neglectful of you all. I was stuck on a real big job with very little help. We were under a time crunch and money was tight. But we finally finished. But I also have neglected a bunch of other stuff? I'm hoping to be totally caught up and back to normal by the end of the week. Although my body wont recover for awhile longer. I'm getting old.

Now, where do I begin? Santa, gay Nazis, trolls or suicide bombers?

Santa Clause, although a great guy did not accurately fulfill 45 prophecies concerning him and his birth. And more importantly no-one is willing to die for their belief in Santa. Neither of those two points proves anything, but follow closely and think for yourself.

GenSkep and others mentioned Muslim suicide bombers and their willingness to die for their cause. So what. Christians, Muslims and Jewish people, at one time or another were all willing to die for their faith. That only proves that some people are willing to die for what they THINK is the truth. But will people die for what they KNOW is a lie? That's the question you need to ask yourself.

I'm not talking about Christian Missionaries or Muslim suicide bombers willing to die for their belief. I'm talking about 11 dudes who were willing to die who all claimed they saw a resurrected Jesus. Would you lie to die?

Let's leave the Bible alone and look at the writings of Tacitus, Suetonius, Pliny the Younger, Lucian of Samasota, Mara Bar Serapion, Thallus and of course Josephus. Not only weren't they Christian apologists but many of these guys despised Christianity. They aren't saying they believe this, however they are saying others believed these things. Things like... There was a dude called Christ, who suffered under Pontius Pilate who did miraculous feats And was claimed to have risen from the dead on the 3rd day. That he called himself the Christ, that he was equal with God. He had a group of loyal followers who would meet and sing songs of worship and break bread together. They helped one another out when in need and gave money generously to one another. They live by the teachings and standards set before them by Christ. And that there sins will be forgiven by their faith in Him.

The Gospel message is simple. Christ came, Christ died, and Christ rose again. And even without the Bible we can at least agree that some guy called Christ who thought he was God was walking around the Earth around the time of Pontius Pilate and this guy had a following who at least thought he rose from the dead. 10 of the 11 Apostles were martyred, only John was spared even tho legend has it he was boiled in a vat of oil only to survive.

So you got to ask yourself one question punk, do you feel lucky... well, do ya?

I didn't write our last post to fish for compliments, but I did notice them and want to thank you all very much. Not that I get a lot of compliments but still my all time favorite one is when his "Lordship the Gun Toting Atheist" once told me that he had a dream where I laid a bunch of tile in his house, and then he said it looked real good. I still laugh at that one all the time, I don't why, it's just funny.

But the truth is that I'd rather convert you than for you to like me. There's not much difference between the Christian and Atheist. What separates us is only a little faith. The Christian has faith, and the Atheist just needs a little more. I've actually heard many Atheists claim they wish they could believe in God, but they just don't have enough faith. (?) But that's just the thing about faith, it doesn't require anything, if you want to have it, just have it. That's why it's called faith.

The Celtics suck

Can we live at peace with all men? Here's a quote from my favorite movie "The Outlaw Josey Wales" where Josey (Clint Eastwood) says to Ten Bears "Governments don't live together people live together..." I know it's just a movie but these few words say quite a bit. I think when we meet a stranger we tend to like them for whatever reason? Maybe that reason or reasons are because we don't know if that person is a liberal or a conservative. A Christian, Jew, Muslim or Atheist. Whether they like the Lakers or Celtics.

If an Atheist likes(?) or can at least put up with Believers and live in peace with them, that is a good thing. But for the Christian to put up with others including Atheists that should be imperative. Now most of us have a circle of people we all know and care about. And some of those people are on our list because were related to them or we've just gotten to know them over time, and although they might be different than us and maybe not have the same outlook on life as we do, we still care about them... because they are in "our" circle. But it's not always so easy to care about those people who are way different than we are when they aren't in our circle.

But whether someone is inside or outside our circle it shouldn't matter to the the Believer. Romans 12:18 "If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men". This is probably a little easier with those inside our circle? But sometimes those we are closest to are the ones we are the least peaceable towards because the people we are the closest with can actually "hurt" us the most. But how do those people who hurt us see the Lord in a Believer's life if we can't maintain peace? Hebrews 12:14 "Pursue peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no one will see the Lord.

Even tho I ignore some of your questions and don't always say the kindest things, you all are in my circle. Peace multiplied. feeno

entropy, free books and the Matrix

It's 6PM Sunday night. I just showed up at church because I thought I had to teach. But I just found out the Youth doesn't have any activities tonight. So this will give me a chance to catch up with you guys.

As I read through our last comments I've decided to offer you guys free stuff instead of trying to answer anything about evolution or the first or second laws of thermodynamics.

My Pastor has written a couple books. The first book is on the 10 commandments and he uses each commandment to show God's love. I think it is titled "Free to Love". The second book is titled "The Portal". It is a cool book written through the eyes of an angel. And the tales of what he sees on things like Satan's rebellion, the tribulation and the rapture etc.

I also have another friend who has written a book. His name is Randy, he is the reason the term "fundy" was invented. But I respect him greatly and after my Brother, Brother-in-law and Pastor, he'd be the next person I'd seek out for questions I have concerning God and Scripture. Anyways his book is more of a testimony about his life and his disorder of OCD. (Obsessive compulsive disorder). But he does have a chapter dedicated to the 2nd law of thermodynamics and how it conflicts with evolution.

I believe Jeff has read the first 2 books mentioned and hopefully he can critique them for us. Just remember Jeff is an Atheist, so he might not give them a thumbs up? But at least I know he'll be honest.

Randy's book covers a lot of ground. It was interesting for me because I could relate to some of the names and places he mentions. It might be interesting to you if you have OCD?

The Truth shall set you free

I want you all to know I'm only writing this for you. God certainly doesn't need me to "have His back". I'm not one of those people who think I need to prove God. Someone once said "God is there, and He is not silent". And I agree. And I usually don't like these types of debates. I don't think they get us anywhere? But I feel your deserving of some response from our last thread.

For atheism to be true we all are here by accident. And the complexity and design of the universe is an amazing coincidence. Time and space came from nothing. Matter and energy came from nothing. Even with all the resources readily available, money, laboratories, Universities and supposedly the brightest and geekiest scientists in the world no one has ever produced one single living cell.

If atheism is true then the 2nd law of thermodynamics (everything is winding/breaking down over time) takes a vacation when bad things evolve to good. And we evolved from another life form or species with out the same number of chromosomes? Why don't you worry that your dog may impregnate your neighbors cat or your pet hamster? If it takes millions of years for a small insect to develop a defense system to combat it's stalker, why wasn't it extinct after about 2 weeks on Earth?

No matter what what era we lived in, and no matter what geographic area, and no matter what kind of people were living then, we worshiped some sort of deity. And established a morale code. They felt empathy, shame, compassion, love, hatred and guilt.

We all have a mind like no other species. We can think, create and reason. we have instincts and emotions and the unique ability to communicate. And most of us use that ability to talk with God.

Notice I didn't mention prayer, Jesus, Holy Spirit, the Bible, changed lives, my relationship with the Lord, comfort, peace and the Church. Those things are just for Believers. But when you start with the thought process (presupposition) there is no God, then you must find reasons why "there is no God". And yes, Christians do the same thing. That's why I said "I really don't like these types of debates and they usually go nowhere".

That is also why I said "proof" or "truth" has little to do with peoples conversions or de-conversions. Proof is subjective and can change and we can all find facts to support our arguments.

Besides it all boils down to: what are we gonna do about Jesus?

I can't help myself, but when something good happens to me, I want to thank God. And of course likewise when something bad happens to me I want to call upon the Lord for help. We live in a world where there are many times in our lives we need some help. But I'm thankful for the many times things work out for us and we are also able to give thanks. Today was one of those days I was thankful. I dodged a couple of bullets and was able to get a lot of work done. (And yes... make a little money).

As I was driving home I said a small prayer of thanks. It got me thinking....

Maybe just once in a blue moon and in a moment of weakness do you guys ever find yourself wanting to thank God or ask Him for help?

Maybe a couple times a year me and the wife will go to the Horse Track. It's a great time, it's exciting, and it's a great place to people watch. But I've never had much luck at actually winning any money there. But if I was an Atheist I'd be living at the track or out buying lottery tickets. And with their luck I'd only have to buy one to win.

They live in a Universe where somehow something came from nothing. Where non living things can produce living things.

They live in a world where the Earth, the Sun, the Moon and the Galaxies are all the precise size in conjunction with one another to maintain life. Also the distances between them all are also perfect for life to continue for all living organisms, plants, animals and people.

There lucky enough to be traveling around the Sun at 67,000 mph while we are spinning at over 1,000 mph and wobbling at a perfect 23.5 degrees. Cause if any of these were off just a few percentages we'd be flying off into space somewhere. Either burning up or freezing to death.

Those fortunate rascals also ended up on a planet with the precise amount of water, the right type of atmosphere mixture of Nitrogen, Oxygen, Argon and Carbon Dioxide.

If that ain't enough them suckers have an O-Zone layer protecting them from ultra-violet rays. And an ideal magnetic field also protecting them from deadly rays bearing down from the Sun.

The Bible wasn't written to trick anybody. It simply just recorded events as they happened. You guys (some Atheists) want to discredit the Bible because you think it was written by mere men. And they must have some hidden agenda to fool you into this religion to control you. So I guess you think 40 different writers over a 1500 year period of time conspired to achieve this great con. The problem is that your reading it wrong. Men may have actually wrote down what was happening but it was God who inspired their writings.

The Bibles theme From Genesis to Revelations has never changed. First we are to love and serve God and second since Genesis chap 3 God has been trying to reconcile a fallen, sinful, lost man back to Himself. That's it. Where's this giant conspiracy in that and what good has it done for Moses, King David, Isaiah, Jeremiah or the New Testament writers?

When you read the Bible read it as if it was really God trying to talk to you. Read it like it might just be the most important book ever. People say they can't hear God talking to them? I don't usually either, unless I'm reading or studying His word. Are His words important? Quick story from John chapter 6....

Jesus is laying down some hard sayings as He speaks in the Synagogue. And as a result of this many of His followers withdrew from Him. Then Jesus says to the "twelve" "Do you guys want to leave me too"? Listen carefully to my boy Peter's reply. "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life."

The difference between an Atheist and a Christian could be summed up in 6 words spoken by Christ. Jesus began His public ministry as He preached the "Sermon on the Mount". The sermon starts out with the Beatitudes. (Matthew 5) The Beatitudes start out with Jesus saying this "Blessed are the poor in spirit".

Definition for "poor in spirit" = Those who realize they need the Lord.
Definition for "blessed" = happy.

So now our quote by Jesus could say this "happy are those who realize they need me".

Does this mean the Atheist can't be happy? Of course not, but an Atheists happiness depends on circumstances. A Christian should follow Christ's lead. Was Jesus happy?

Someone once asked Billy Graham that question, here was his reply "If by happiness we mean serenity, confidence, contentment, peace, joy and soul satisfaction then Jesus was supremely happy.

When we realize God is control our priorities will change and then our happiness wont be dependent on circumstances or things.

South Korea is crawling with Christians

I have a couple books written by Mr. Loftus. He was cool enough to sign one of them for me. And actually gave me another book titled "Why I Became an Atheist: Personal reflections and additional arguments"

I have read this book a few times but have read some chapters even more. I am not going to critique this book. In fact if I was a critic I'd say it was well written and informative. Now having said that I would like to ask you all a question about several positions mentioned in the book and or on "debunking Christianity".

I will list several reasons why he (John) became an Atheist.
#1. Prayer doesn't work.
#2. Christians aren't any better than non-believers.
#3. The fact that Christians are afraid not to believe.
#4. The fact that where you are born determines what religion you will be.
#5. No miracles.
#6. Because how do we know which religion is right?

So here's my question or maybe it's just a statement; all this tells me is this: If God answered just one prayer or if there is just one Christian who truly lived like Christ or just one person that believed in Jesus when fear played no part or one dude born in India was to become a believer or God performed just one miracle and one religion (Christianity) is right, then that would only prove that Christ is real.

Atheists tend to focus on everything but themselves and God. They would rather talk about things like social injustices and switch the attention to those issues, or just put God on trial. It might make Atheists feel better about themselves that they are against witch hunts, slavery or things like the crusades. But again if you are gonna use this reasoning then we'd only have to find one Christian during these incidents that was against these things based upon his/her faith to make the argument invalid.

His reasons tho truthful, at best could only prove there aren't as many Christians out there that claim to be.

I have a friend, he and his wife are Atheists. He once told me because of the fact that I believe in Heaven and Hell that that makes me judgmental and a hater.

Then I ran across Cipher's blog. I believe he frequents "Debunking Christianity". His "about me" thingy has this to say: "the doctrine of salvific exclusivism is the vilest belief ever concocted in the history of our civilization. Some of my earliest memories are of televangelists threatening me with eternal damnation for not believing something that I seem to be inherently incapable of believing. I reject absolutely the notion that someone can be willing to abandon for all of eternity billions of his or her fellow human beings, yet somehow still be considered a good person".

Before I ask my question I'd like to first make a few points. #1. I never understood why Christianity is considered "exclusive". Anyone can become a Christian. Young, old, black, white, Jew, Gentile, male, female, disabled, able body, handsome, pretty ugly, butt ugly, small sinner or great sinner. It just doesn't matter, all are welcomed. #2. Who says were "good"? #3. I can "reject" the idea that my mechanic billed me $500.00 to fix my brakes. Just cause I don't like the idea of highway robbery doesn't change the fact that I owe him $500.00. And #4. If Hell is real, and you know we Christians at least think it is, (that's why you call us delusional) shouldn't we warn you that it's a bad place? Wouldn't it be mean not to tell you?

Also like many other Believers I don't like the idea of Hell either. I don't bring it up often. Mainly because I believe God will do what is right. Wherever and or however we end up will be deserved.

But here's my main concern. I really don't want to be offensive toward anyone or have anyone think I hate them. But I can't understand why everything about Christianity is a joke except the idea of Hell. You don't believe in God or the Devil. Angels or Demons. If I ask "why don't you believe in God" you'll answer "same reason we don't believe in tooth fairies, unicorns, leprechauns or magic fairy dust. So if you don't believe in Heaven or Hell, why is this so offensive?

I'm watching a drunk guy getting booked on a TV show. It's like COPS but it's called "Jail" or something like that. This poor guy was fighting and screaming at the Police so hard, they finally had to restrain him in a chair made with feet and hand restraints. The Cops asked what his problem was, his answer was that his daughter was in a wheel chair and that wasn't fair. Then at the top of his lungs he said "I curse you God for making my little girl be in a wheel chair". (or something close to that).

You know what? I respect that guy. And I respect his choice to curse God. It's his daughter and his circumstance and so he has the right to deal with it however he decides. It's between him and God.

I also have very close friends who have a daughter who will be in a wheel chair her whole life. She is a very sweet little 12 yr old girl with Spina-bifada. Her parents have dealt with it very well, but no where near as good as Elizabeth does. And again I respect Elizabeth and her parents decision to make sense out of it all. But in this case they haven't cursed God, and at least to the outside world have no complaints. Who knows, maybe one day Elizabeth and or her parents might get mad at God about this and curse Him? But again that is between them and God.

Here's why I bring this up? Why do people feel like they have the right to be mad at God for other peoples afflictions? Especially if the people who are going through it have made peace with their situation and God. When "Katrina" hit Louisiana some cursed God and some were thankful. When the Tsunami hit the coast of Indonesia same thing, some were mad and some were grateful. There are people starving to death right now, who are giving thanks to God.

So if you want to be mad at God because some or even many people are hurting about their circumstances, then you should be thankful to God as well when people are grateful during their trying circumstances.

I know most of you don't believe in God, but if there is God, can't you see how silly you'd look trying to justify yourself before Him. By complaining how mean and sadistic he is when people who starved to death or spent their life in a wheel chair never once thought God was cruel?

The Bible teaches us that we all must work out our own salvation. It's your life, and if you want to curse God go ahead. I will respect that. But cursing God because we live in a fallen and sinful world is a cop out.

I don't want this to be an opportunity for anyone to confess any gory details about your past. Please keep them in your closet or go tell a Priest. But I've done a few things that have bothered me from time to time. Although they happened years and years ago I still feel guilty. There was this one thing I did which you will never hear about... well, not over the internet. But if we ever get the chance to break bread with one another, remind me and I just might tell you? But is guilt and God connected?

What is guilt? Can guilt be a good thing? I'm not gonna paint a pretty picture of myself with what I'm about to say, but here goes. I love my parents very much. But I'm pretty sure it's guilt that drives me to pick up the phone and call them, go over to their house a couple times a month with the family or help them out with chores they are getting to old to do. I might even feel guilty if they read this? But that is highly unlikely considering they have to call my daughters up or other gran' kids any time they want to figure out how to put a DVD in or how to use their cell phones. So finding my blog on the computer is a bit of a stretch.

But why do you feel guilt? Those of you who visit my blog are generally very nice and consciences people. So it's very likely you'd feel at least a little guilty if you hurt someone. Either physically or emotionally. So how do we explain why we feel guilty sometimes because of things we've done that aren't even hurting anybody?

Could it be we feel guilty toward God over our "sins"?

I want to thank everyone for leaving comments. You guys crack me up. I usually can't wait to get home from work and check out your responses. I'm telling you that because sometimes I ask loaded questions. I'm almost afraid to ask this next one. Loaded questions often get loaded answers. But I just can't help myself.

I was working at a house last week, I think the people could have been Atheists? They don't go to church, cussed like sailors and had a Richard Dawkins book laying out. (Something about evolution). I'm sure there are some Christians who could fit that description as well. We'll save that for another day. But as I was moving the fridge out of my way, I noticed one of the Proverbs written on a piece of paper and stuck to the side of the fridge next to a cool recipe for peanut butter fudge. Anyways it made me think about the godless dude in "Pulp Fiction" played by Samuel L. Jackson who quoted a Bible verse before he would kill somebody.

Do any Atheists have a favorite Bible verse? Those of you who were once part of the church, what was your favorite verse when you were still a "Christian"?

Dinner at 3 O'clock?

I'm on Symmes Rd. today trying to get to my last stop before I can officially begin my week-end. I needed to go seal some grout and caulk a doorway. I was stuck driving about 20 miles an hour in 35 mph zone behind a little old man. A little further up the road for about 1/4 mile there is an extra lane that will give me an opportunity to pass Methuselah and go about my business. When I reach that point in the road I passed him up from the right side. As I'm passing him the ole geezer shakes his fist at me as he mouths obscenities. I think he wanted me to pull over and fight him?

First I can't believe he could even see me as he was wearing the biggest pair of sunglasses I ever saw. I took a double take to make sure he wasn't wearing a welders mask. I've seen less glass in a shower door. And second I don't think I even was driving in a rude manor. I never tailgated him, I didn't even need to speed to pass him up. Here's the thing, this has happened before, at the exact same spot and sure enough by a an old dude that could have babysat this guy years ago. What is it about old men who don't want anyone to pass them. If you ever pass an old lady they could care less, usually it's because they have no clue anyone else is even on the road. But at least they ain't red-asses.

What kinda driver pisses you off the most?

Yeah, I know Vick. You hate the van full of Nuns that drives through large crowds of people picketing for gay rights and puppy adoptions.

Is it fair to ask this question: Does life altering circumstances turn people either to God or away from God? I ask because I have read many peoples stories about why they de-converted from Christianity. Usually something tragic may have happened in their life or they got fed up with all the political BS and disputes that sometimes arise inside the church. And of course inside the church, we have many people who may have never turned to God if not for the fact that something tragic did happen in their life.

Those who find "faith" due to these circumstances are grateful to God and continue to rely on His grace to deal with their past or circumstances.

Those who left the church will then turn to the "intellectual" reasons for justifying their lack of belief and why they left the church.

BTW, there are many of these "intellectual" reasons to believe or not to believe? But It seems those intellectual reasons usually don't play a part in somebody's conversion/de-conversion until after the fact.

Someone once said "A belief in God is not a matter of intellect, but a matter of the heart."

I'm not trying to belittle what Atheists believe, and even if what I say is true, it doesn't prove that there is a God. But can you see any truth to this?

Ross brings up a good point about a way a Christian should live their life. Paul tells the Philippians this "Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may be innocent and pure as God's perfect children, who live in a world of corrupt and sinful people. You must shine among them like stars lighting up the sky, as you offer them the message of life....

I know many of us don't live up to Paul's challenge. Here's 3 Christians that drive me crazy. Atheists, here's your chance to add to my list.

#1. The Christian when leaving the restaurant forgets to tip, yet manages to remember to leave a Christian track.

#2. This guy happens to be a friend of mine. I would tell you his name, but it changes every few years. But we will call this guy, Softball Church Boy. (SCB)
Every game SCB manages to argue with the umpires, question the Manager, yell at his teammates for not being "good enough" and causing bench clearing brawls with the other team. Then after the game he always apologizes to everyone by saying "God just made me real competitive". I could just imagine how this would go over with Mrs. Feeno? Gee honey, I'm sorry I slept with your sister, God just made me real horny. Or what I would tell the Judge, Sorry Judge I robbed that bank, but, God just made me real greedy?

You care about this person deeply. But their life is a train wreck. They have struggled their whole life with problems. They "find" Christ and really seem to be happy. After time passes you've noticed they have continued in their new found happiness.

Are you happy for them?

Think about your favorite Atheist who once was part of the church. He or she is now on a crusade trying to convince anyone who will listen, about all the reasons not to believe in God.

What if God turns out to be real, and they wind up in heaven and you and Fred Phelps don't?

Does the fact that some Christians are cruel mean there is no God? I hear Atheists say things like "way to show the love of Christ" any time we say something that sounds mean. I've commented a few times recently over at Debunking Christianity. On 06/09/2010 I commented on "Is the Efforts at DC worth it"? And then on 06/13/2010 on "Am I truly ignorant about Christianity".

I'm not here to defend my comments over there. They are what they are. But one of those who does comment there (Chuck)(who has actually has commented here a long time ago) took offense to my comments and left this reply to me. "... I just find your defensive indignation a defeater of the doctrine of the Holy Spirit. (a core of Evangelical assertion) and therefore exposes Christianity as just another man made idea."

Is he saying because I claim to be a Christian, then I must have the Holy Spirit. Therefore I couldn't possibly say mean things? Because the Holy Spirit (HS) would control me better.

This is a totally absurd and a non Biblical assertion. But for the sake of this argument let's pretend this is true. All that this would prove is that feeno is not filled with the HS, and that feeno is not a Christian. If this argument was true, Atheism would be dead. How could they explain the life of someone like St. Francis of Assisi? He was born with a "silver spoon" in his mouth. He had wealth, power, fame and was quite the bad ass with his sports and fighting. And he could get laid at will with the finest skanks of his day. Yet through the circumstances of his life he forsook his families wealth and his inheritance and dedicated himself to the Lord. He gave up the lusts of wine, women and song. He gave all his earthly possessions and money to the poor. He did this to the point of being mocked and ridiculed by his friends and contemporaries. He then spent the rest of his life helping the poor, being kind to everyone and everything, and not only did he quit raising his fists in anger, but wouldn't even raise his voice in defense of himself.

You might know him by this quote "Preach the Gospel at all times, and if you have to use words".

Does St. Francis prove that my God exists? No. But just because Christians act out doesn't mean there ain't God either.

Peace or as St Francis would say "While you are proclaiming peace with your lips, be careful to have it even more fully in your heart".

Do you know who your friends are? Is it possible that many "supporters" of the gay and lesbian community aren't really empathetic towards the gay plight, but are simply using them to help further their agenda? I'd say many Atheists are simply exploiting the gay community, using them as pawns in an effort to make the church look bad. Or to simply see them as a certain demographic to achieve political gain.

I know many of you will think the church makes it's self look bad with their stance on gay marriage etc. Maybe? But not my point. And for political purposes I don't blame the gays for having to ally themselves with whatever group is willing to help them achieve their "rights".

Timberwraith, A lesbian said on our last post "My housemate is a christian, he's progressive, open minded, open hearted guy and has a kind, level headed ethic. I'd take living with him any day, over an atheist with prejudiced/unkind views of people. Although she might not like my viewpoint of homosexuality(?) I respect what she says and agree with it.

My question is this: Is this as simple as drawing a line in the sand, pro gay lifestyle on one side, and everybody else on the other side. And that's it?

Over at "Debunking Christianity" I commented on "Another Christian leaves the fold" A diary of a beleaver". This guys basically says we (Christians) need to debunk our faith or we are all "Fred Phelps' ". Of course after many comments nobody answered my question of "All atheists must denounce atheism or they are Joe Stalin's". To me both of these are equally stupid statements.

I don't want to offend those Atheists who truly have the gay communities best interest at heart. But I wonder about people who say things like that? They seem to be more against the church then about the rights of the gays.

I love the Jason Bourne movies. I also like Matt Damon and most all movies he plays in. Then I hear that he is an Atheist. I don't know why I was surprised. Most of them Hollywood types are? But I guess I always thought he and his pal Ben Affleck were a couple good ole Catholic boys from Boston?

Do Atheists think less of Celebs or Athletes when or if they find out they are Christians? I mean if I were an Atheist and was a University of Florida fan, I think I would have mixed emotions? Would I love Tim Tebow for bringing national championships and very important SEC wins to my school. Or am I turned off by his overtly Christian nature? Do I root for his success or hope he fails?

Yeah, I kinda was saddened by this enlightenment. I still hope for another Jason Bourne" movie to come out, and I will pay to see it. I guess I should just enjoy the movies and leave people's beliefs (or lack there of) out of it?

P.S. When I was a kid growing up in farm country about 30 minutes from C-Bus (Columbus Ohio) there was a a Drive-Inn movie theater called "Christian free Drive-Inn". And it was totally free to watch the most popular secular movies. Of course at intermission you had to sit through a quick Christian sermon. Then after the sermon they would share the "how to get saved" speech to everyone. Then they'd ask, OK, if you just received Christ in your heart honk your horn and flash your lights. And then every single person there, would start honking their horn and flashing their lights. Whether they got "saved" or not.

I guess I'm asking, If they still had those type of Drive-Inns, would you guys go just for the free movies?

The age old question of whether religion has done more harm than good, won't be answered today. Well, at least not by me. Obviously religion has caused our friend Gandolph nothing but pain and suffering. Yet others would say their life was a confusing mess until they "found religion".

I live in the 'burbs of Cincinnati Oh. And one of the things I do between my tile jobs is to visit people in the Hospital to hopefully brighten their day a little bit? Most of the major Hospitals in Cincinnati are on or around the University of Cincinnati. (Go Bearcats) Here is a list of Hospitals I have recently been to. Mercy (Catholic Hospital), The Good Samaritan, Christ, The Jewish Hospital, St. Elizabeth and Bethesda. As a matter of fact the only Hospital in Cincinnati that I can think of where I have been that doesn't have a religious background is the University of Cincinnati's Hospital.

Does that make up for all the abuse people like Gandy and others have or had to endure? I would say it is never OK to hurt or harm anyone, no matter what "cause" it is for. Unfortunately, religion is used by many people, simply for personal gain. Whether that be money, power or fame.

Here's my real question. Is it possible that there is God, yet man, in his fallen state makes religion look bad? Is it possible that God will judge those "religious" more than the afflicted that deny him?

I can't answer these questions. I can tell that God is a Holy and Righteous Judge and I have confidence that he will do what is just.

Let's forget about all the formalities and just jump right back into our debates. C Woods left a nice comment on our last post. She is a bright person and her blog is one of the first places I visited when I began blogging. But like many Atheists from the beginning of time they think they've come up with something Christians have never thought about. Since I learned how to use a computer, I don't think there is an argument I haven't heard a thousand times. Same with you guys.

Do you remember the kid in school that still believed in Santa Claus about 3 years after you and everybody else in your grade realized Santa was a hoax? Well after his shock has worn off he feels compelled to find every 6 year old he can and tell them about how their can't be a Santa. He's armed with a bunch information everyone else in the world already knows, but he thinks it's new and wants to flex his new found knowledge on his niece or nephew or the kindergartner down the street. That kid reminds me of Atheists.

Now that might have been demeaning, so I will apologize now(sorry). But how could anyone think my last post was?

Anyways, as Rodney King and others would ask, "Can't we all jjjust gggget along?"

The answer is yes, and we probably already do. Every day Atheists inter act with Christians. You act so pleasant and nice we cant even tell that your Godless. I can't think of one Atheist I have encountered on the internet that wouldn't turn out to be one of my close friends if they happened to live next to me. As a matter of fact, we'd be sitting in my back yard listening to the REDS games and sharing a couple cold PBR's once or twice a week.

3 cheers for C Woods, she's right about us respecting each others views, she's right about politicians and certainly speaks the Gospel on her stance about chocolate.

Do you guys feel like some Atheists must demonize Christianity to make their choice of atheism look more appealing? Does it give some of them a morale high ground? Let me tell you about a typical week in a typical Christian church and how some atheists will interpret this.

Sunday School. 9:00 am. Reading through the Bible together and discussing it.
ATHEIST: They are being brain washed.

Worship hour. 10:45 am. Sing praises to, and worship our Creator.
ATHEIST: they are just creating a atmosphere of belonging for new recruits. And trying to raise money for the Preachers new mansion.

Wednesday night. 6:00 pm. Dinner and fellowship.
ATHEIST: This is their built in networking group and underground republican election pep rally.

Wednesday night 7:00 pm. Bible study on Pharaoh's killing of the Israelite babies.
ATHEIST: Abortion clinic bombing update.

Saturday am. outreach. Pass out food, clothing or pray for any one we can.
ATHEIST: Just to add to the numbers of their church, if they can't convert them, they wont help them or really pray for them.

Saturday night 7:00 pm. Barb-b-q at feeno's
ATHEISTS: meeting to discuss how Christians are the best and that it should be legal for our Priests or Preachers to abuse kids, but gays, atheists, and abortion doctors should be ridiculed, beaten and never allowed in our churches because they are all possessed by the devil.

I never watch the news. And the only time I hear the news is on accident on my classic country station 910 AM every now and then between songs. I figure if something big enough happens I'll hear about it. But this morning on the news a guy was being interviewed after a guilty verdict came down on a murder case. He mentioned how that guy would be in Hell and blah blah blah.

When I talk to people about Heaven and Hell they usually say something like this, "Well I'll probably go to heaven, it ain't like I ever killed anybody". Is murder the cut off point for being banned from Heaven? Is everything else OK as long as we don't murder some one?

Maybe the murderer would say something like this, "We'll I only killed 1 person, Hitler killed 6 million people, so he should be in Hell, not me"?

If there is a God, and you were God, would you have rules on who gets in?

And if you would have rules, why can't God?

God's only rule is this, you can't get to me unless you get here through my son.

I had a busy week and have missed talking with you guys. I'm glad to be back. JD did well in my absence in the continued debate about "where we get the idea of right and wrong" from?

Any ways, the kids are away in San Antonio visiting relatives. Me and the Mrs. are "Home Alone". I'd mentioned how my Pastor showed a clip of the movie "2012" at church a couple weeks ago. So last night after I took my wife to one of the finer eateries in town, we stopped at one of those vending machines that rents dvd's.

We got the movie "2012". I'm very hard to please when it comes to movies, so don't take my advice, but this movie was average at best. If you haven't seen it, rent something else?

The movie is about the how the Mayans predicted the end of the world to be on 12/21/2012. Some people knew this was really gonna happen and were making plans to avoid it. (if that would be possible) It got me thinking about King Hezekiah. Hezekiah was a good King in the days of Isaiah the Prophet. He was real sick, the Lord told Isaiah to tell Hezekiah to get his "house in order" because he was gonna die. The King didn't wanna die, so he prayed to God. God thought it over and then told Isaiah to go tell the King he was gonna give Hezekiah 15 more years to live.

This brings up 2 questions. #1. Would you want to know the exact date you were gonna die? And #2. If you knew the exact date you were gonna die, what would you do to get your "house in order"?

1/3 of Americans believe the Bible should be taken literal.
1/2 of Americans believe in the rapture.
1/5 of Americans believe the rapture will take place in their life time.

Maybe Jeff who according to "nobody cooler Schuler" "is da man" can let us know if those stats seem about right for those north of the border?

I have no idea what percentage of Americans will be caught up in the rapture. I know about 70% of Americans claim to be Christians, but only God knows. But for the sake of this post, let's assume you wake up tomorrow and 25% of the population is missing.

Your sweet granma is one of those missing. That kind, sweet ole lady that you could always count on for love and support, and who made a damn good brownie is gone. Do you remember her words about how the Lord was coming back for her. Or do you chalk it up to alien abductions or some bizarre coincidence. Or are you just happy all the Bible thumpers are gone?

This poor horse has been dead for about 2000 years and we're still beating the shit out of it. But if you've been following JD and T-Vick's discussion on my last post this question needs to be answered by the Atheists. Because Christians already have an answer. Tristan has said "If you want an absolute universal morale law... you'll never find that".

OK then, how do we distinguish between right and wrong? Good or bad? Morale or immoral? A positive or negative action? Who gets to decide these things and why?

If there is no absolute morale law there would be difference between greed and generosity. Hate is no better or worse than love.

Where did our conscience come from? If it evolved, why are humans the only ones seeking a creator and feeling bad after doing harmful things? If there is no "absolutes" then we should be held accountable to no-one.

Everyone thinks that what they think is "morale" should work for everyone. But how about if everyone has to live by what I think is morale? That's why we don't want to believe in God, because if he is real, then we have to answer to Him. We'd rather come up with our own morale's. Which brings us back to who gets to decide what those are?

Is life more confusing for the Atheist or the Christian? As much as science is teaching us it doesn't show us any purpose to our lives. And maybe that's OK for some people. We eat, drink, party and die. Science can teach us that an axe head doesn't float, or a donkey can't talk or that people who have been dead for 3 days can't come back alive. Christians aren't a bunch of dummies, we know this ordinarily is true. That's why we go to church and praise Jesus because if it happened all the time we'd be home on Sunday mornings too, catching up on sleep or getting the grass cut or whatever it is you all do?

Before you comment, please understand, I'm not saying your lives can't be fulfilling or that you can't have meaningful relationships without God. But if we miss out on the most important relationship, the one with who created you, to me, would be anti-climatic?

Does every decision we make have to be grounded in science? Can't you use your emotions and instincts to draw conclusions that differ with science?

Christians also suffer from confusion. It's just a different set of things to be confused about. Why did God allow this to happen or that to happen? What does he want from me. Am I screwing up in this area or that part of my life. How come Fred accepted Christ and his twin brother rejects Christ? When will you answer my prayer.... yadda yadda yadda.

I don't think this is Biblical or anything, but I think the Christian can go through this life a bit confused, but we are looking forward to the hope we have in Christ. While the Atheist can go through this life confidently but with no hope when it's finished?

Since “disbelief” is not being able to believe something which in all likelihood
is true, “disbelief” is the perfect word to describe the atheist. Christianity
is true, not because it works (i.e., here is how it changed me) but because it
is factual, founded on facts and the internal evidence of the Bible shows this
to be so. Here are some examples:
We read in Ezekiel 26, the prophecy concerning the city of Tyre, a powerful,
walled city of ancient times. “Therefore, this is what the Sovereign LORD says:
I am your enemy, O Tyre, and I will bring many nations against you, like the
waves of the sea crashing against your shoreline. They will destroy the walls of
Tyre and tear down its towers. I will scrape away its soil and make it a bare
rock! It will be just a rock in the sea, a place for fishermen to spread their
nets, for I have spoken, says the Sovereign LORD.

What happened to Tyre? A few years after Ezekiel made this prophecy,
Nebuchadnezzar paid them a visit. For 13 years he laid siege to the city and
finally broke down part of its wall and destroyed the city. Many thousands of
people of the city fled to an island a half mile off shore and built ANOTHER
city there.

250 years after that another conquer came and he demanded that the city
surrender to him. The city laughed at him but the new conqueror didn’t like to
be trifled with so he came up with a plan to reach this city in the sea that
seemed completely untouchable. He would take all of the walls of the old city
and build a causeway out to the new city so he could overtake it. Which is what
he did and in doing so he scrapped the city bare. BTW that was Alexander the
Great.

The causeway that he built (and he actually did help carry the rocks to inspire
his men) remains to this day. You can go see it on your next trip to the Holy
land. But be careful as you walk along it ----- not to step on any of the nets
of the local fishermen. That is where they dry them.

There are countless OT predictions about Jesus the Messiah validated in the NT
that prove what we believe is true, it is not a fairy tale. They concern many
things like His name, things He would do, be done to Him, and even some things
He would say. Since it is Easter here are a few in that regard:
The Triumphal Entry was foretold in the book of Zech. 9:9 and was written about
520 BC, We see Jesus fulfilling this in Mark 11: 7 -9.
How about Jesus betrayed by a friend – David wrote this a thousand years before
Christ in Psalm 41:9 when he said, “Even my close friend, whom I trusted, he
who shared my bread, has lifted up his heel against me”. Judas of course
fulfills this.
I wont display all the passages, you can read them if you want to but here are
a few more:
That Jesus would be betrayed for 30 pieces of silver, the price of a slave.
Foretold by Zechariah (11:12) 400 years before His death, Matt. 26:15
That He would be spat on and struck, Isaiah 50:6 & Matt. 26: 67, made about 700
years before this happened.
That He would be crucified with sinners, Isaiah 53: 12 & Mark 15: 27, 28, this
prophecy also was made about 700 years before the birth of Christ.
That His hands and feet would be pierced, Zechariah 12;10 & John 20:27
That the soldiers would gamble for His clothes, an amazing detail! Psalm 22: 17,
18 & John 19
Even some of the very words He would say were foretold centuries before. Psalm
22: 1 & Matt. 27:46
That not a bone of His would be broken, again made many centuries before it
happened. Psalm 34: 20 & John 19: 32 – 34
That is just a few. Over and over again the Bible says that this was done in
order to fulfill Scripture so we could weigh the evidence.
I was never an atheist but I was an unbeliever, a doubter, a skeptic that I was
convinced by the evidence. As for the atheist, they have no holy men of old
that spoke the word of the LORD, I guess that makes them a “non – prophet”
organization.

Easter Sunday will be here in less than a week. This will be one of those very few times where finding a parking place and a pew to sit in can be quite difficult. All that means is that people who don't like church or are unbelievers are just going to make someone happy. And that's honorable. I know a few Atheists who will still go to church with their spouse or a relative or a friend on special occasions to appease them. So join the club, if someone invites you to church this week, take them up on their offer. Or just go because feeno invited you. Then come back here and tell us what you thought.

You could kill 2 birds with one stone, first I would really love to hear about some of those experiences you all had. And second you'd make your Mama so happy.

As we were driving south along peaceful and winding country roads I saw several places where people must have died in traffic accidents. You can tell because they mark the side of the road with little wooden crosses to honor those lost. And it got me thinking about the cross and how popular it is.

I'm not sure what the most popular tattoo is? But I'd say the cross is right up there at the top, next to the topless Hula dancer and Mom? And of all the things people hang from their rear view mirrors the cross is a close second behind the pine tree air freshener. But easily when it comes to jewelry the cross is number one. You don't even have to be a Christian, people just love rockin' the cross. Cross earrings, cross charms, cross bracelets and the all time best seller, cross necklaces.

Are there any atheists out there that are sporting a cross somewhere?

Drugs are great

On March 15th 2010 me and my wife celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. I didn't blog about it cause I didn't want to bore you all. And I still wont. But eventually I will show you a 3 minute and 23 second video covering our 25 years together. A girl from our church made it for me. And I surprised my wife at church when they played it during the church service the day before our anniversary.

I'm telling you that because for the last few weekends we have been trying to get away and spend a romantic weekend together. So 3 weekends ago we were ready to take off together when some friends of ours (who don't speak much English and have only a few friends) and were expecting a baby went to the hospital a month early to deliver the baby, and they asked us if we could watch their 5 year old. Which we did and were glad to do. But we picked him up on Thursday night and kept him until Monday night. Then last weekend we once again were all set for our weekend and another family situation arrived and we were forced to cancel that trip.

That leaves this past weekend. Come hell or high water I was gonna take my wife out of town and spend some time with her. Even tho I have never felt more sick in my life. I didn't tell her how bad it was and tried to play it off. But the further we drove the sicker and sicker I became. We took a 7 hour drive down the scenic back roads of Kentucky stopping in little quaint towns to walk around the little gift shops and thrift stores. For a trip that should have only taken about 3 hours. When we got to our beautiful destination a 150 acre farm in the blue grass hills of Kentucky surrounded by cows, waterfalls and a farm pond loaded with blue gill, catfish and bass and an old farm house built around 1900(?) all to ourselves, all I could do was lay down.

If I go see a Doctor something really bad is going on. A couple months ago at work I sliced my arm open. It was a U shaped cut about 8 inches long or so. I drove about 5 minutes to Walgreen's bought a bottle of rubbing alcohol and some neo-sporin. Then in the parking lot like Jason Bourne I cleaned and bandaged my wound. Stretching the skin and flesh back into place. I wrapped it in a clean clothe and duck taped it. I didn't even look at again for several days and when I did, it was all better. Except for the giant scar I now have?

So that night in our romantic setting I was up all night sounding, looking and acting as if I was gonna die. At 7:00 am my wife was up and packing and said "I'm going home". I think she was pissed at me because I don't go the Doctor? But believe me I was ready to go see a Doctor or even an emergency room somewhere. She drove home and it was pretty silent in the truck. After 9:00 am I called our family Doctor who said they couldn't see me until Monday.

I know I'm boring your socks off, but I'm almost done. So I end up finding another Doctor who said I have a sinus infection, a double ear infection and some type of congestive infection. He prescribed me some antibiotics and thank God 'cause I had a lot of biotics in me? Anyways after 2 pills yesterday and one this morning I feel much better. I'm still gonna stay home from church to rest up. And possibly make plans for next weekend?

I read a post over at DC the other day about why people leave Christianity for the greener grass of atheism. There are a lot of responses and a lot of reasons why. But one thing they all seem to have in common is that they would all be miserable if God or Christianity were absent from this world. They would have nothing to bitch about. Nothing to blame their problems on, and nothing to demonize to make their lifestyle look so caring and noble.

I claim that many if not most Atheists like it when Christians are "mean" to them. I think in a wierd way it gives them their self worth? So be careful what you wish for, if we Christians would leave you all alone, or get raptured what the hell would you do with yourselves?

One critique I often hear from Atheists seems valid, at least on the surface. And that is the notion of religion being more harmful than good. I can also bet that Atheists are tired of the worn out line used by Christians that sounds a little like this: "It's not about religion, but about a relationship with the Lord".

So before I tell you "it's not about religion, but about a relationship with the Lord", let me share a story with you from the book of John. And I do tend to side with Atheists on religion and what it can do, if anything?

I will paraphrase, but you can follow along if you wish. John 5:1-15. So Jesus is walking from Galilee up to Jerusalem for a Jewish holy day. In the city there was the pool of Bethesda. It was thought if you were lame, blind, deaf or had some other disease that you could be healed just by being dipped into the pool as the water is stirred up. You can imagine that this place might be crowded with religious folks, or at least with religious sicko's all trying to get healed. But by all accounts is was a busy place. I mean even the guy Jesus ends up healing is never quick enough to get in the pool, because someone is always beating him in. Just from this story we can see that family and friends were there to help their sick acquaintances out. And the Religious rulers are close enough to get pissed at Jesus.

So here's my point: Jesus is walking around the midst of all the hustle and bustle of this show. yet Jesus is already with us, he's close to us, he can touch us, hear us and save us. Yet were more concerned with the traditions of getting healed by a religious ceremony or custom then noticing Jesus is in our midst.

So I'll will close by saying "It's not about religion but a....

The Apostle Paul often found himself in dangerous situations. He was in prison, or under house arrest (I guess the Romans made him wear a GPS ankle bracelet)? He had to hide and escape and run from those seeking to harm him. But there was a courageous dude named Demas that stood by his side during a time when Paul was imprisoned by the Romans. During that time it wasn't really cool or even safe to be a Believer.

When Demas' name is mentioned during Paul's' missionary journeys, only good things were said about him. But somehow, like many people today, he got disenchanted with the church and left. Paul tells us in 2nd Timothy 4:10 that "Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world". My translation is that Demas liked what the world had to offer more than what the church or our Lord had to offer.

When I say "world" I don't mean people, we should love everyone, no exceptions". But the "world" means; things of the world. Power, fame, money, ourselves or anything that appeals to our flesh more than the things of God. There may not even be anything wrong in those things in themselves? Matthew tells us to "seek ye first the kingdom of God, then all these other things will be given to you as well".

I hope I see Demas in heaven. And I just might. He may have been born again and just found out it was to much for him to continue on in his faith with all the goodies the world has to offer? Or maybe he was never truly born again? I don't
know. But with so many people today, even many Pastors leaving the church for the world, I wonder?

My best friend since I was about 12 years old called me yesterday. We were actually talking about H.S. Basketball. And before I hung up I asked him how is son was doing in college. He said great, but he did say his son has 5 room mates. One a vocal Christian and another one an Atheist. He told his dad that the Christian is not a very nice fellow, while the Atheist is not only much nicer to be around but is actually a more "morale" person.

I didn't write my last post to try to gain any "praise" or "compliments" from anyone. They were noticed and appreciated, but my goal was to let you guys know, that sometimes we Christians are put in a awkward situations. We know many people don't like it when we "preach" yet we also believe we are to share the Gospel message of Christs life, death and resurrection.

So why are we Christians not Christ like? Well I'd like to say that we are many. We come from all types of backgrounds and situations. I'd also like to say that for every "mean"(?) Christian, there is one like my friend. (You can call him Tiger.)

Let me tell you just 2 quick stories about him, although there are many more. But about 20 years ago Tiger was working in a warehouse stocking ball bearings. The company he was working for decided to lay off another worker in the warehouse not named Tiger. After dude got the notice he went back to the shop extremely saddened and worried and concerned what he was to do? Before he could collect his stuff my boy Gonz (aka Tiger) went up front and quit his job. He did that because he was more concerned for dude than he was himself.

Then about 10 years ago Tiger was a stud cars salesman in town where we live. That company had just hired a minority to wash the cars. Another car washer came over to the showroom where Tiger was working and started using "hate speech" to describe the new worker. My friend went to management and said that they need to fire the old employee because of what he was saying. Management said "not to worry because that guy will get over it". Tiger said "maybe you don't understand, either he leaves or I do, because I won't work for a company who will allow some one like this working for them". Oh, they fired dude.

I work with young people, 7-12th grade usually. I have told these stories many times. I know a lot more about the Bible than my friend does. I'm in church a lot more as well. I teach Bible, I have been ordained, I even collect a little salary every week from my Church. But that's not what a Christian is. A Christian is what my friend is. (Tiger is the dude I also mention in my testimony).

Yes I know, many of you atheists don't need a god to be good like my friend. I know that. But my only answer to this question is this: Christians shouldn't act like Christians, we should act like Christ. And that's what I told Gonz to tell his son.

Do you remember the Sienfield episode when Elaine got mad at her boyfriend Puddy because she found out he was Christian and Puddy wasn't trying to save her? She stole his Jesus fish and was messing with his car radio where he had dialed in all the christian music stations. Yadda yadda yadda.

I know we Christians can be a little obnoxious now and then about witnessing to you all. So let me ask you what method of our evangelizing suites you best?

A. The guy at work who thinks he witnessing to you by telling you everyday "Your going to hell".

B. The guy who invites you to church every week? And then calls to see if everything is OK with your family 'cause he didn't see you there.

C. How about those welcomed visits from those folks banging on your door when you have nothing else better to do.

D. Maybe it's everyone favorite.. TV Evangelists

E. The neighbor who tells you "if you only had God" that bad thing that just happened to you wouldn't have happened.

I'm sure you guys will have your own thoughts. I'll tell you what I do, and then you can tell me how you think we should go about it. What I try do is this. St. Francis who is a fascinating dude, google him if you wish, says "Preach the Gospel every day. And if you have to use words". I like that. And I try to live a life that is worthy of a follower of Christ. I often fail, but keep plugging along. Any ways I usually never approach any one about the Lord. But often they approach me. Then I go into my "Joshua" speech. I tell them how great God is, and about all the great things he has done in my life, then let them decide for themselves.

Deja Vu all over again

I visited "Debunking Christianity" yesterday and it reminded me of what inspired me to write my first blog. I still don't understand why people who use to call themselves Christians and were "saved" and did "good" works and tried so hard to keep their "faith" can turn into inconsiderate, close minded and thoughtless people. It will be hard to convince me that someone who just turned into an Atheist for such a short time can be so hateful towards those they supposedly were just like. It makes no sense. I read all 58 comments from this original post and none answer this question with out leaving more questions. Just go to DC and look at a couple of yesterdays posts and see what I'm talking about. I commented on "The Atheist Agenda, Smut for Smut" campaign. If I was to ever become an Atheist I think I would have compassion and understanding for those who have left the church. But most of all Atheists that have left the church only mock, ridicule and belittle the church all while claiming it's not my fault, they were mean to me first. The last time I said that I was in the 2nd grade.

Ok, here it is, my very first blog.

One year ago I couldn't turn a computer on. Eight months ago I got an E-Mail address and now today I'm writing my first blog.

As I explored the internet for topics that interested me, I ended up on an atheist website by John Loftus called Debunking Christianity. I had no idea who he was, and had no idea that atheists were so passionate about their beliefs. (or lack there of) Actually, I always thought of atheists like people from P.E.T.A. just a bunch of weirdos. Sorry P.E.T.A. people. Or atheists?

But when I discovered that John (Mr. Loftus) was actually a well known and a popular Author I was Impressed. Not for the fact that he's kinda a famous, but because he treated me, a born again Christian very graciously on his atheist site. And a few of his contemporaries would also take time out to "set me straight" in their posts. W'sup Jeff, Tracy, Gandy and Playa.

There was something unique about this group, most of these people claimed to have been part of the church at one time. Could that be possible? And much like a Christian who shares his testimony of how he got saved, I read stories about how they got "deconverted". But I have one problem with these stories. I can't figure out why a lot of these people seem to have such a disdain for people they used to have a relationship with. I was up all night a while back talking to a former pastor who left the church, he had mentioned that he had received a negative backlash after he made his decision, and actually received hate e-mail from "loving evangelicals". I asked him if he thought more people from his church were praying for him, or sending him hate mail. He never answered that question.

If I became an atheist: First I go and see my pastor and tell him I am no longer a believer. Here's what happens next. The deacons get together and pray for me and my family. My Sunday school class prays for me. We will receive cards and letters from people wishing us well.
People will be calling to see if they can do anything for us. Old ladies and young alike will be dropping off cakes and brownies. My friends in the church will still be expecting me to come over and watch the MMA fights. ( and probably try to convince to come back to church) People from the church will still be calling me to install ceramic tile in their house (that's what I do) Plus I can't see myself suddenly not liking them either. And as much as I love my church, this is not uncommon.

So it troubles me to see these people one week sitting in a pew next to their friend trying to figure out if they should eat together at Apple bees or Bob Evans, then a week later think less of them because their a Christian.

I wanted to write this blog on my own site, so not to take advantage of John's vast number of hits he receives. Or to be a nuisance to anyone over at D.C. , who really did treat me well.
One thing I've learned about this group, if you call them out, they will respond. I hope some how they will find my site and respond to this.

After Christ was crucified and died, He then, after 3 days rose again. Then for forty days before he ascended into heaven what did he do? The Bible says that he walked around revealing Himself before people. I believe to prove that He was indeed alive.

But here's the part I need you to help answer for me. In that 40 day period there are 17 times where Christ made an appearance. And all 17 times the Bible mentions a Jesus sighting, the witnesses were always Believers.

Any ideas why? I have never heard anyone ever teach or preach on this subject. It just came to me as I was reading and studying this week for my Jr. High class.

I have an idea why? But I could be way off base?

Why doesn't God just do a bunch of miracles today, so skeptics will finally believe?
Would it matter to you if he did?
And if so what kind of miracle would you like to see?

Sometimes I say to myself, "If God did go around doing miracles all the time, everyone would certainly believe?

But I'm not so sure it would make that big of a difference. Early on in Jesus' ministry and before he pissed off the Religious rulers of the day, He was a Rock Star. He drew huge crowds wherever He went. He had 12 roadies, everyone thought he was da bomb, He had many groupies and they all wanted to see his next show.

The problem with this was that many of these people came to Him to see a healing, a raising from the dead, a feeding of a crowd with just a few fish, they wanted to see some sort of miracle. Not actually listen to what he was saying.

Do you all remember the story when Jesus looks at some crippled dude laying on a mat being dragged around by 4 of his buds? Jesus says to him "take heart son, your sins are forgiven". Then a bunch of the religious teachers were saying to each other "Blasphemy! This man talks as if he were God. So Jesus tells them "OK dorks, would it be easier for me to say your sins are forgiven or get up and walk? So then Jesus tells the cripple to "get up, pick up your mat, and go home". And of course, dude did. Although many believed some did not. And this just made the religious teachers and rulers even madder at Him.

Would a miracle change the way you feel about God?

Can God be perfect if He's color blind?

Jesus was born 2,000 years ago in the Middle East. His Mama was a Jew. His Daddy was a Jew. He was born from the blood line of David and Abraham. The Bible tells us He went unto His own, and His own (the Jews) received Him not. How people could argue that Christ was anything but a Jew is mind numbing. When Jesus was born His skin was much closer to black than white.

There are 66 books in the Bible. All were written by Jews. Mostly about the Jews, and mostly to the Jews. Thank God I have been grafted in and have become an adopted son of Jesus.

Moses' old lady was a Cushite named Zipporah. She was black.
One of the many Bible babes was Bathsheba. You know about her from the story of David. She too was probably black. There was the Ethiopian Philip lead to the Lord.
And many other Ethiopians mentioned. I'm not even sure if there is a white guy even mentioned in the Bible?

None of that matters. It seems almost silly to even bring it up. God doesn't care about race, color, creed, gender. God is no respecter of person. Romans 2:11 says "He shows no favoritism".

If you want to get Biblicaly technical God did have a chosen people. There were the Jews and then everybody else. Everybody else was a Gentile. But God had a plan to use the Jews to reach the world. and when Jesus died on the cross Paul tells us "there is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male or female...." (Galatians 3:28) Earlier he said" For Christ Himself made peace between us Jews and Gentiles making us all one people....That is found in Ephesians 2:14-18, finish reading this if you get the chance.

There is only one race of people. The Human race. Nobody gets extra credit or bonus points from God for being a certain color.

I know you all agree with me. I believe this 'cause it's from the Bible. You believe it because your ethical and fair people. So why did I have to write this here in the year of 2010? Well Geenks, Tink, LX, JD and myself have encountered Marcus Wellington a blogger who comments over at JD's crib. I hope Marcus finds his way over here, reads this and maybe, just maybe asks God for forgiveness.

On top of Makarios' page it says "No one has done anything so bad that forgiveness isn't offered. And nobody is so good that for forgiveness isn't required". or something like that. I like that. We all need God.

I had to go pick up some material this morning. As I was driving around I was thinking about writing a story for Hollywood. I think I could title it something like "Gandolph, Earth Czar". Gandy would play himself, a fun loving guy who inherits control of the whole world after a unanimous vote by the United Nations.

When he takes control he puts Tink in charge of "World Fitness" she is like the Schwarzenegger to Bush 1. And is also the lead woman in this Movie. Her Love interest would have to be Jeff, played by Orlando Bloom. Tink would be played by Gwenneth Paltrow. His Lordship the Gun Toting Atheist, played by Will Smith will provide the new "World Military" with weapons training. And of course we must have a nemesis for our new Czar. That will be JD who will be played by Russel Crowe and he is the leader of a small resistance group that is causing dissension and problems for the "religion police".

Is what the new Earth Czar is doing going to help or hurt our world?

Of course Brad Pitt will play feeno. (I mean who else, John Candy is dead) and I will lead Gandy to the Lord and a great revival will break out.

If we wanted to make this a comedy we simply need to get Geenks to write it?

There is a post on John Loftus' site titled "If Christianity doesn't matter why do you bother with it? I must agree, I still struggle with this. I'm not saying you don't have the right or even ideas that may constitute your unbelief, but why "bother" with it at all anyway?

I wish I could add a link for you all. But my computer skills are still very basic. But I did leave a comment if anyone's interested?

Bruce (author of post) makes a couple observations which may or may not be true but have very little to do with anything. I'll paraphrase but you can read it for yourself if you wish. But he doesn't mind Christianity as long as we don't offend anyone or cross some imaginary line. As long as we don't, then he lists a bunch of things that Christians do that are not pleasing to him and society in some cases as a whole. But he wont use the same logic and values on his lack of belief. Should we ban atheism because there are bad atheists who commit stupid acts. If an Atheist molests a child I believe we should punish him/her. But certainly not all Atheists. I guess he thinks if a Christian molests a child some how they get an out of jail free card?

If there is a group of Christians out there that deny their kid medical attention based upon their religious belief, I too would have a problem with that. Personally I think we should have laws that protect these kids. And why we don't is beyond me. (maybe we do, I don't know)?

I like to discuss religion and atheism and God or gods or no gods. It's all good. But when people start whining about Christians imposing their will on everyone, it's just not true. Some religions may hold a gun against your head, but not ours. Yeah, religion does influence each culture, that's just gonna happen. If your numbers were higher, we'd see a bigger atheist culture. Actually considering your low percentage rates, I think you should be proud of the progress you have made?

If you want to call yourself an Atheist, fine. Grow a pair and own up to it. (sorry Tink, just an expression). Don't act like Christianity made you do it.

Who has better self esteem? Or the worst self esteem? Christians are accused of having low self esteem because we need to admit were sinners and not good enough for God until we admit it.

Atheists think this life and all the things in it are just chance. They are an evolved species of monkeys. This brief life is all there is. Their family, job, significant other, family and friends is all just a big accident.

I can see why Atheists could think that way about Christians, compared to a holy God I realize I'm not much. But because he loves me all I get is an abundant life and hope and blessings and comfort and companionship and rewards and joy and peace. Did I mention victory from this world and an everlasting life?

What is it you guys get again? I'm not saying your not confident, just saying you remind me of the ugly girl who thinks the reason no-one asks her out is because she's so hot men are just intimidated by her beauty.

Dyin' aint much of a livin' boy

I mentioned how I might write about my weekend when I got home from my trip, and take a little vacation from "religion" talk. But I just can't help myself and I'd like to talk about God. Besides, although this is one of the best weekends of my year and already can't wait 'til next year, I'm not so sure it would be all that interesting to you all? His "Lordship the gun-toting Atheist" would probably enjoy all the fire power we bring to our gathering, but the rest is just eating, drinking PBR, smoking Rocky Patels and praising Jesus. Oh, I almost forgot, we cap it all off by watching the movie "The Outlaw Josie Wales".

But when you watch this movie, or any war movie it's interesting to watch these noble people willing to die for a cause. Amazing courageous people laying their life down for strangers. Is there a cause you would die for? In the Old Testament Moses tells God he'd be willing to die for his beloved Israelites. I think he meant a physical death? And like Moses I think I'd lay my physical life down for the sake of others. But in the New Testament the Apostle Paul actually tries to make a deal with God and that he'd give his "spiritual" life for his Jewish Brothers. Now that's just crazy. I wouldn't even consider doing that for my Mama.

I guess what I'm saying is I'd give up my physical life to save an Atheists. But I wouldn't give up my spiritual life, even if it saved the whole worlds.

Does your attitude cause you to think the way you do? Or does the way you think cause your attitude? I'd say most Christians have a positive outlook on who God is. So they think God is good. And I'd have to guess, but those who are mad at God have a negative outlook on who God is. So they try to find ways to convince themselves that God is a tyrant.

I've been a little busy with work lately and trying to figure out my tax stuff. But I have been bouncing around the blog world trying to stay in touch with you all. I seem to notice that most atheists seem to have a bad concept of who God is. Is there something I could say to you to convince you, that if there was a God he truly loves you? And only wants the best for you?

Could the difference between a Christian and an Atheist be a simple as our attitude?

Chip off the ole block

My youngest daughter had a game today. She's a freshman in High School and plays basketball for her school. One of the biggest schools in the state of Ohio. She is actually a very good player. They lost their first 3 games but since have done very well. Although they lost today their record is 11 and 5. She had 10 points in today's 39-35 loss. Needless to say I'm very proud of her. She also hits the cover off the softball.

But last night a boy from her school texted her. He said "So your a Christian huh". Then began to ask her some questions about God. I know if your an Atheist your probably not impressed. But I think at that moment I was as proud of her as I have ever been.

Outlaw witch burnings, not matches or religion

What is the Atheists motivation to "debunking religion and or Christianity? From my perspective I can see only 2 reasons why they should have any concern. The first one is the idea that we exclude people and make them feel left out and or divide families etc.. The second is the fact that religious beliefs shape the way we might vote politically.

To answer the first concern about "feeling left out". What should we do? Quit going to church and quit celebrating religious holidays? I don't want anyone to feel left out. But why would you even feel that way if it's something you don't even believe in? Does me reciting the "Apostle's Creed" in a private church service make you feel guilty or left out? The fact that families are divided and or split may happen but if it's done maliciously then there is a problem with the people involved, not religion. Making one choose or reject a position doesn't mean there must be animosity amongst the 2 sides.

So now politically, we all vote according to our beliefs, religion is just one part of our beliefs and how we might vote. Where do we draw the line? You can only vote if your IQ is higher than 100? Or if you were raised by hippies, or Jews or Mormons or foreigners or Christians or women or men or blacks or whites or little people or Atheists or anyone who thinks different than we do? I mean it was illegal before 9-eleven to fly a plane into a building you know.

I think it's admirable that people try to make a change for the better. Even if it's an Atheist trying to do what they feel is right. But "if I were an atheist" I would care less about all these things. I'd say whatever man, more power to 'em.

Is there something I'm missing?

When the roll is called up yonder I'll be there

What was the goal of the early church? Profit? Sure there is a lot of money generated today because of Christianity. Movies, books, CD's and DVD's etc. But many of those early Christians left real jobs for no jobs. Some early Christians even began to give away there money and sell off some of there possessions. And that money went directly to those who had less, not the church Pastors who usually just got room and board, as they travelled and taught and preached in the temples and in peoples homes. Then of course what good would it do if you did get super rich off of this new religion if you couldn't live to spend it?

Christianity could not have been a very wise decision if it meant you had to give up your money, possessions, friends and in some instances family and life as you knew it. Especially taking into account that it wasn't very safe to practice this new religion. I just don't see what advantage it was to call yourself a Christian back then?

What motivates a Christian today? Profit? Sure, I'm sure many do it as a job only? But I would also say that most Believers have less money because of their faith. Many tithe, or give to missions. Many Christians spend 5,6,7 thousand dollars a year putting their kids in Catholic or Christian schools. Not to mention how much time we spend away from work because we are doing something at/for the church.

Can the Christian actually have a noble reason to try to convince you to turn to God? We don't want your money or possessions. We all share the same things in this world, joy, sorrow, pain, sickness, happiness, good times and bad.

We want to rejoice with you when you accept Christ and become part of the Church. We want to share our future in God's glory with you. We want you to taste his love, like we have. We want you to realize that the Creator of this world desires a relationship with you. We want you to have hope in Christ and for his return. Instead of at best, becoming food for buzzards and maggots.

Christians still struggle in this world, we share the same problems as everyone else. But they don't seem to be as important knowing we have an advocate who is rooting for us and desires for us a glorious future. Christians are just a bunch of nomads passing through this world until his return. So while I'm waiting and ain't got anything better to do, I'll try to convince some of my friends to join me for a ride of a lifetime?

Do you think Haitians are whining over a tough day at work?

I have been really busy at work this week remodeling a bathroom. Banged up my knuckles, cut my arm and wrist really bad, spent to much money at Home Depot and my knees are sore. I am thankful to be working, and even more thankful to get back on my blog. I've missed you derelicts and your responses to my thinking. Although JD and LX haven't missed a beat.

There are 2 or 3 verses in the Bible that allude to the fact that God has implanted his knowledge in us. That wont mean much to anyone who doesn't put any stock in the Bible, but it made me wonder, this is why so many people still believe in God.

If God beliefs are bad and cause harm, then why haven't we evolved away from religion? Look how far we've come from the days of dragging our knuckles on the ground while pulling our "bee-otches" around by their hair and woopin them with a club when they got out of line. Now we wear socks that match our sweaters and hold doors open for our ladies.

These poor people over in Haiti right now confirm this. There are some blaming God. Some are praising God. Some blaming the Devil, some praising the Devil. But whenever these tragedies occur, people seem to sense a 'Higher Being".

How come we can't evolve away from this type of thinking? Could God have actually implanted his knowledge inside of us? (Ecc. 3:11, Job 32:8 and Rom.1:19)

This weekend I caught an ad for Jesse Ventura's new show on the network formerly known as Court TV. It's new name is escaping me right now. I always liked Jesse and was glad he became Gov. of Minn. I was however a little disappointed with him a few years ago when he was quoted as saying "Christians use God as a crutch".
I can't be to hard on him tho, many others like Ted Turner have said the same thing.

What I'm about to say is not meant to be demeaning, and "if I was an atheist" I guess I'd feel this way too. But Atheists feel like they have gotten this far in life based solely on what they have done. I mean that makes sense, if there's no God, who else should get the credit? And I do believe whether you are a Atheist or Christian the choices you make put you in a position for failure or success. I just believe that God is in control of everything.

I guess what I'm saying is that I agree with these people. I admit I use God as a crutch. And I always will. He helps me through tough times and situations I get myself in. He answers my prayers and has blessed me with all kinds of wonderful things. I have a lot to look forward to in this life and a great future ahead of me in the next.

So I'm giving you guys some props here, because life can be difficult at times, and I don't know how someone gets through life with out using God as a crutch?

You Atheists have gotten into my head and it sucks. I don't think I ever heard the word "debunk" before I got on a computer about a year or so ago. So today at work I heard someone use it and thought he must be some loony Atheist? Turns out he was just a dude that has a better vocab than me. Then on my way home from work someone cut me off in traffic and I uttered under my breath "damn Atheist". Then tonight at church some kid was screwing around in the hallway causing a stir and all I could think about is how in about 5 years he'll probably be blogging about how he left the church and decided to become an Atheist.

Do I need a break from you'll or what?

Being smart might be the most over rated quality some one can possess. But then again maybe not? Because it's really not that "rated" to begin with? Being really smart doesn't get you anywhere in life. If you are successful in life chances are it is because of other qualities which you have.

Being a success in life is measured by different people in different ways. Some think money, power, fame, rubbing elbows with the right people or simply just being happy and content or making the next generations life easier are all ways to measure success. I wouldn't disagree with any of those. But you don't have to be smart to attain any of those things.

Knowledge is a good and powerful thing. But being smart is totally meaningless, unless you wind up on Jeopardy? But after you become a 5 time Champion you still have to go back home on Monday driving your AMC Pacer that your granma gave you when you fixed her computer, back to your little cubicle at work as you enter something in a computer all day hoping to avoid your Boss because he picks on you. Plus the same DNA which makes one smart also makes them snort and eat boogers.

I say things like instinct, experiences, gut feelings, discernment, judgment and of course good ole fashion common sense is what makes us a success. In John Loftus' book "Why I Became an Atheist: Personal Reflections and Additional Arguments" on page 53 he(John) guesses that "percentage wise, atheists are better educated than others, and better educated people are usually better people toward others..."
Which reminds me, I have been a bit grumpy lately, maybe I should take some night classes until I can achieve a Degree in something/anything but at least I'll be a nicer person?

"The Education of Sonny Carson" is a great black cult classic movie.(?) I watched it 50 times while I was in the USAF although I'm whiter than Michael Jackson and OJ Simpson. Anyways Sonny Carson says one of the smartest things I've ever heard, even though he was probably about 18 years old when he said it, and he spent little time in school. But as a rival gang is coming upon Sonny and his highly out numbered gang to do battle, Sonny is trying to keep his gang from doing anything, but one of his dudes says "Sonny, we gots to do something, cause it aint cool to just stand here".
Then Sonny says "You be to cool, you gonna lose". My goal of telling this story is that Sonny's education was nothing but his life on the streets, yet his wisdom far surpasses any thing you could ever learn in a book.

DISCLAIMER #2: My 21 year old daughter has one semester left in college, she is on the Dean's list, as usual. She has plans to further her education by going to grad school after she travels for a year. Young people, please go to school and get an education, it will certainly be a wise move, something me and Sonny would want you to do. I'm not saying getting an education is a bad thing, I'm saying don't forget to pick up all the other wise things along the way that will help you in life.

If it don't fit, you must aquit

We all have prejudices, and when we search for "evidence" if we are being honest, we don't want to find any evidence that is contrary to our beliefs. Matter of fact we usually just dismiss it until we find something that coincides with what we already believe.

Believing in God is easy and natural. I think you must really try hard not to believe in Him? Same said with the Bible. When I write something I sometimes think to myself "I don't know how they can answer these things, yet I know they will". And sometimes, I think you actually believe what you're saying?

Archeological discoveries that help claims made by the Bible don't seem to really matter. Things like the City of Ur, which once was used as skeptic fodder against Bible claims, but when the city was unearthed it didn't change anyone's opinion. Why? Because we only believe what we want to.

Some claim the Bible borrowed things from other religions, yet over 3000 yrs ago those same religions claimed that the Earth was supported by a Turtle or Atlas or by a Catfish or Elephant. While the Bible states "God stretches out the north over the empty place and hangs the Earth on nothing". (Job 26:7) Scientists used to claim that there's not enough water on Earth to have a worldwide flood. Then they discovered fountains of waters in the oceans depths. Which the Bible could have told you about. (Gen. 7:1) Do you think that changed anyone's mind.

My friend questions the validity of Moses, if they found a record of Moses tomorrow, you might believe that Moses existed, or you might not, but it wouldn't make you believe in Christ anymore. We can claim that Jesus never existed, or Paul or Moses, that list can get awful long. And we can play that game forever, and many have. And there are BTW many things that point to a Moses and plagues and Egypt etc. around the time he claims.

No matter how hard people try to debunk the Bible it just hasn't happened. How did these uneducated, simple minded goat herders write something with such truth, wisdom and power and be so far ahead of it's time in things like science and prophecy and biology, oh yeah I got biology and prophetic stats too. But so what, it's just more stuff to debunk.

I try to stay away from these type of arguments that "prove" something. And I know I haven't proved anything here today either? My point to this post is something I've said a few times before, "There is plenty of evidence to support your belief in Atheism, if that's what you want". And yes, I do want there to be a God, I'm just thankful that there is still so much evidence that supports my faith.

Atheists don't believe in God, and so then it would only make sense that they wouldn't believe in the Devil. But I have heard many Atheists say in the small chance there is a God/Devil and Heaven/Hell, they'd prefer to spend it away from God because he is such a maniacal monster. I guess God is not good enough for them?

Are there certain phrases Atheists stay away from? I'm not talking about stuff like Oh my God or I can see the writing on the wall or that's like the blind leading the blind etc. Christians don't care who says that stuff, I'd say most Christians don't even know many of the phrases we use in every day vocabulary come straight out of the Bible. Even the snake on the pole that Moses held up in the desert is still being used today by the medical field. I'm the apple of my mama's eye by the way. And when someone sneezes and an Atheist says God bless you, I know your just being polite.

But what I'm talking about is these people who profess there is no God and yet say things like "Everything happens for a reason". Or "I wouldn't do that, it's bad karma". And of course "it's destiny".

In a world with out God, nothing happens for a reason. And karma and destiny is nothing but coincidence and luck, or good names for strippers?

Are there phrases you try to avoid?

The Sadducees were a unique religious group of Jews around the time of Christ. They also have much in common with Atheists of today. I say they are unique in the sense that they were religious and yet they did not believe in life after death. They didn't believe in heaven or hell. Or Angels and Demons. And go figure but they were a doom and gloomy bunch to be around. Some say that they didn't believe in life after death, so they were sad u see.(Sadducee)?

I was reading my Bible the other day and as I'm reading through a passage, I came across this verse (Luke 20:27) and it crossed my mind that If you only get one life, and this is it, would you choose quantity of life or quality of life?

Would you want to live the life of a Rock Star and be dead at 42 years of age like Elvis, or live a slow boring life in Des Moines Iowa but live to be 120 years old? Or live the life of a Rock Star and live to be 120 years old like Kieth Richards?

Merry Christmas

Yes, that's me in my Santa outfit. I spent Christmas Eve morning incognito at a local greasy spoon diner wearing my long red underwear talking to all who were working and eating. They were very surprised how Santa knew all their names. after about an hour I went out to my truck, got dressed and came back in to hear about all I missed. It was a lot of fun.

I have had a lot of questions for you all but have been waiting until after Christmas because they just didn't seem to be appropriate considering the time of year and all?

Many Atheists try to say this country (USA) wasn't founded upon Christian principles, yet many of these same people say the only reason people ever even become Christians is because they were "brainwashed" by their parents or "indoctrinated" by society.

I will fight the battle of why our forefathers left England another day. For now I'm just thankful we live in a country where we are still allowed to have freedom of religion.

But I'd argue the opposite is true when it comes to indoctrination. Ponder these things and come up with an explanation why young people still come to Christ.

Most kids spend about 8 hours a day at a public school or on the school bus.
The spend a lot of time on the internet looking at many things they shouldn't.
They play sexually explicit and violent video games.
They listen to sexually explicit and violent music.
They watch the same type of movies.
All the magazines they read are marketed to make them think they need to look and act a certain way.
And all advertising is focused on the flesh. If it tastes good, eat it. If it feels good, do it. It's your life so live it.

Let's compare that to all the brainwashing going on. Most Christians kids spend about 2 hours a week in church. Most don't even open a Bible outside of church. And most Christians families usually only pray together before meals. And that's only a couple times a week if there lucky.

Yet every day young people still seek and accept Jesus as their Savior. It's not easy for anyone to live a life for Christ, let alone young people. I mean it just ain't that cool to be a "Jesus Freak".

So if there is any brainwashing going on, it certainly isn't that there is a God, if anything, just the opposite.

Every year me my wife and girls pile in the car a day or two before Christmas and drive around our town looking at Christmas Lights. My town, just like yours has the one weird guy whose on the news every year because he has a billion lights on his house.We check him out every year, then a few others then we go home.

I can't see how this activity could cause so much controversy, thank God err I mean thank your lucky stars these lights are now called "Holiday Lights". If they weren't, they'd really be offensive.

I know this time of year can be tough on many Atheists. So as usual I am here to help. Let's see how Angie O'neil makes it through these difficult times as an Atheist. She already meets once a week at a Mexican Restaurant for the weekly "Atheist Happy Hour", but this time of year they kick it up a notch and throw a Winter Solstice party. (And charity drive). At this party they can tell one another what stores to avoid. I guess some "blare" religious Christmas music. And they can help each other find all the places to shop for Christmas cards without all the horrible messages of hope and peace crammed inside of them.

Do Atheists need to hire a Public Relation firm? Atheists are just as morale as Believers, if you don't believe me, just ask one. I mean it doesn't seem fair that an Atheist can't get elected as President of the USA or ever get any babysitting jobs.

Backward God fearin' rubes like G.W. Bush get to be President. Yet so many Atheists can't even come out of the closet in fear of losing their jobs, friends or social networking group.

I know the "Billboard Campaign" has managed to sky rocket the Atheist numbers way up in the 3% group, but we still need to find ways to make Atheism look more attractive.

I will offer some new slogans to help with new recruits. How 'bout "Hey, save some money this Christmas. Become an Atheist and you wont have to buy any presents". Or "Atheists going green, we wont waste gas driving to church".

Have you ever thought about what you would like your last words to be. I think it was Pancho Villa who said as he was dying "It can't end like this, tell them I said something".

A popular Atheist deathbed quote that you will see on Christian sites is this one from David Hume as he lay dying said "I am in flames". I don't know what he meant, he might have died from a venereal disease, and that could explain it? There are other interesting quotes from Atheists as they were drawing their last breath. And to their credit(I guess, some went down swinging).

When Joan Joan Crawford's house keeper began to pray for her Joan screamed "Damn it, don't you dare ask God to help me".

Or good 'ole Charlie Darwin himself when he said "I am not the least afraid to die." (Then he shit his pants and died.)OK I made up that last part.

Voltaire was a fascinating dude. I have actually read quite a bit of his stuff. I know we all assume he was an Atheist, but as I read his stuff he seems to be more against religion than God. Any ways when he laid on his death bed and was asked to forsake Satan he said "This is no time to make new enemies".

I think Charlie Chaplan was brought up as Christian, then may have "deconverted". But as Charlie laid dying a Priest said "May the Lord have mercy on his soul". Chuck's reply was "Why not, after all it belongs to Him". Even tho earlier in his life he was quoted as saying "By simple common sense I don't believe in God, in none".

Nobody knows how many "Atheists" have made death bed conversions, we only know no man ever repented of being a Christian on his deathbed.

My favorite quote as some one is about to die is that of Steven, our Church's first martyr, as he was being stoned to death for preaching God's word said "Father please forgive them, they know not what they do". Wait a minute, Jesus said that too as he was dying, cool.

There have been scientific studies that conclude prayer has little or no affect?

First let me just say that just because were Christians, God owes us nothing. Let me tell you what prayer does Scientist boy. When I pray to God I'm simply acknowledging that he is God, that he is control and that he is sovereign. I'm showing respect for his greatness, it's a sign of worship. I'm admitting my dependence on him. I'm showing that I am thankful and grateful for all he has done.

Besides I'm commanded to do so. (1st Thess. 5:17). I don't look at God as a Genie in a bottle to grant my every wish. And I don't know how we can say prayer doesn't work because people who have faith don't get any more "healed" then skeptics? I pray for skeptics just about every day. Who knows that the "sick" Atheist in a hospital bed somewhere doesn't have a Christian Granma or friend praying for them?

The Bible does say that God doesn't necessarily answer prayers that are Insincere (Matt. 6:5) or selfish (James 4:3) or your because your to proud(Luke 18:10-14) or unbelief or you have unconfessed sin in your life.

When your having a bad day or week or whatever, instead of asking God to make things better, we should ask him to give us the wisdom and or strength to get through these trials?

Atheist friend, try this tonight before you go to bed, close your eyes and say "thanks God, Amen". See what happens, and during the next scientific study maybe they will include a poll and your answer to the question of whether God hears your prayers or not will surprise even you?

On 10/30/09 on Debunking Christianity's site there was a post titled "Looking for definitions of God for a book" There was 11 responses, I think 2 were by Christians and the rest by people who claim to be Atheists. Some of the words they used to describe God were things like "no balls", jerk, petty, jealous, murderous, genocidal and oppressive of women and approving of slavery. Some talked about how God doesn't answers there prayers and is never there when they need Him.

Then yesterday over at my friends blog (T-Vick) someone used the word douchebag to describe God. I have heard many, many times from Atheists that they don't believe in God, but even if they did, they still wouldn't worship him because of the proceedings words that have been used to describe Him.

This post is not written to defend God. Or to answer claims of his absence from our lives or not answering prayers etc. (why an Atheists feels they are entitled to those things are beyond me) but in any case, this post is simply about how I feel about these Atheists. My claim is that most Atheists are not Atheists. Just people who don't like what they perceive is God's worldview, or simply are just mad at him.

Yes, I know how can we be mad at something like unicorns and leprechauns when we don't blah blah blah...? Ask yourself, are you obsessed with Leprechauns or Unicorns?

Last thing, there is nothing you can say about God that would make him not love you, and want you to be with him forever. Not that I compare to God, but I'd like to spend eternity with you too.

I like cheeseburgers, the "Cracker Barrel" makes a mean bacon cheese burger, I get it on a grilled sour dough bread. There is also a resturant called JB's who makes the "best" burger I've ever ate. Some people like Fuddruckers' cheeseburgers, then ya got Big Macs, Whoppers etc. If I decided to eat a burger from the Texas Roadhouse instead of the Outback, does that make the Outback burger wrong?

I think the same could be said about Christian Churches. So what if we got a thousand Denominations, what the hell does that prove? Some people want a big thick slice of fresh onion on their burger, some want avacodos and hot sauce.

The Church in Corinth was founded by the Apostle Paul, and they were arguing over which Pastor was the best. Paul, Appolos or Cephas, Cephas being Peter.(1 Cor. 3:21-23) Guess what? Paul says it's ok to like them all. Philippians 1:18 says it like this "Whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is being preached therefore I will rejoice, yeah, I will rejoice. I think it's cool we have different churches to fit the needs of all the different people. Gives you Atheists more to choose from?

And finally hebrews 10:24-25 "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

So dear friends, this week please go find the least repulsive Christian Church you can, there's one out there custom made for you.

Atheists love Jesus. Well maybe they love the idea of Jesus. Many Atheists are out to debunk Christianity because Christians are overbearing, judgemental, look down on other type, snobby, money grubbing hypocrites who are extremely defensive.

Let's look at Jesus and his band of thieves, and working class folk who he called his Disciples and friends. He walked around with these red necks and associated himself with sinners, harlots, tax gatherers and other rif raf. He defended the weak and helpless, he touched lepers and had compassion for those who mourned. He comforted the sick, healed the blind and lame.

He was called a drunkard and a glutton, he was accused of treason, of being a lunatic or of demon possesion, he was called a blasphemer by church folk. And finally when he had a chance to defend himself in front of Pilate when he was asked are you the Messiah, he simply said "It is as you say".

So I stand here today in agreement with my Atheists friends and say Jesus is truly the bomb.

Life is good, it can be hard, we can have pain and suffering, but it's still good. The Apostle Paul says "to live is Christ but to die is gain". Paul knew how cool it would be to be with God in Heaven. He's looking forward to it. He actually thinks it's better than life. But he also knows God still has things for him to do. And likewise we all need to be about our Fathers business until he returns.

Atheists tend to see all the pain and suffering in the world and think that a good God would never allow so much pain. So that means that there is no God or he's a jerk.

They will ask me if Heaven is so "awesome" why don't Christians just kill themselves? The easy answer is because like I said, "life is good".

The real question should be is this; If life is so bad and filled with such pain and suffering why don't Atheists just kill themselves?

Maybe because they enjoy life just as much as Christians, in spite of the fact bad shit happens.

The God bandwagon is in full gear and there's still room for you to climb on board. You can sit right next to me and a few hot Christian girls. C'mon man, sounds tempting, don't it.

Here in the good ole USA on Thursday we will be celebrating Thanksgiving. As a typical Midwestern God fearin' family we will all meet on my parents farm. We do the typical gluttoness behaviors, everyone brings massive amounts of food, we watch some football, then go outside a shoot off our many handguns, rifles and shotguns. I'm usually waiting for my cousin Frank to show up so I can check out his latest wife, girlfriend or lover? He hasn't dissapointed me in many, many years. The Dude is a stud and always brings some severe eye candy with him. Then my Mom will make one of the Grand kids read something from the Bible. A few people will share what there thankful for then make a turkey sandwich and say our goodbyes 'til the next year.

When an Atheist feels grateful and thankful does that gratitude just stop towards family, friends, bosses, military etc.?

It's OK if you want to tell God 'good lookin' out". If you did believe in God, what would you give him props for, if anything?

If the Apostle Paul calls himself the "chief of all sinners" what chance do I have? Atheists have a right to complain about how we Christians are just as sorry acting as they are. How can we get "saved" then keep on acting like you guys? Well first of all, I said we still act as sorry as you all, however when one gets saved there should be some visible evidence of some kind of change. We all are born into a sin nature. When we accept Christ we get a new nature. That's when the battle begins. We start a daily struggle to overcome our lustful and selfish prideful ways. When someone lives like their is no law they are living like there is no God.(I have a verse for that, just not off the top of my head). One who lives like their is a God should not allow these sins to control us.(Gal. 5:16). And I know many Believers who are at least better now then they were before Christ, and are getting better, and are no longer involved in "habitual" sins. You'll have to do your own research on what is sin, or maybe that will be an upcoming post of mine? But a quick answer is this, (James 4:7)"To him that knows to do good, and does it not, to him is sin..." I'm sorry God when I don't do that and thanks for your words in 1 John 2:1-2 If I confess my sins, you are just to forgive me of my sins.

I know Atheism isn't a religion because you guys keep telling me that. But The Atheists have put up a billboard here in Cincinnati, and are letting you know that you can go to church with one another. I'm sure you wont call it church, but you guys are pretty bright and I'm confident you'll come up with a catchy name. (Any ideas)? You can meet with one another and listen to a speaker and everything. And of course they will need donations to help further their cause. We have some old pews we will sell you at a good price. Also I'm wondering if you all will be signing up for the upcoming softball season? After the games we usually all go out for ice cream together.

P.S. If you'll will be meeting on Sunday mornings will you please try to get out by 11:00 or after 1:00. I have enough trouble with the damned Methodists and Church of God folks jammin' up all the good resturants.

Every Wed. night I have the great privilege of brain washing and or indoctrinating young people as I fill their heads with archaic teachings of fairy tales written from a book that teaches stupid things like love, forgiveness, and that we were created special and for a purpose.

And as I was preparing my lesson this week, I couldn't help to notice the "heroes" of our faith. If I was to write a book to make Christianity look appealing I'm not sure I would have made up the characters that we have in the Bible. Truth is certainly stranger than fiction.

Moses kicked some dudes ass until he died. King David not only murdered Uriah, but Uriah was totally cool and innocent and a very noble man, who even gave up some conjugal visits with his smokin' hottie wife named Bathsheba because he felt bad his men were at war and he wasn't there to help them fight. And then the Apostle Paul, another murderer we Christians look up to. One of Jesus' best friends was Mary Magdelene (a one time prostitute) If you follow Jesus' genealogy backward your find other degenerates and even another "Pro" (Rahab). Gideon, Elijah, and even Abraham all showed cowardice at critical times in their lives. As a matter of fact I can't find one guy/gal who was perfect. Some say Joseph in the OT was about as close as we can get, but even he was a snotty little tattle tale who played hind and seek with money and other items in his brothers travels. And Mary, Jesus own Mother calls her Son Savior, perfect people don't need Saviors.

If Christians seem arrogant it's not because we think were better, it's because we think were better off.

On top of Blogger Makarios' page their is a quote that says " No one is so good that forgiveness isn't needed, no one is so evil that forgiveness isn't offered".

Jesus isn't happy when families are divided. Did he know it was gonna happen? Yes, he's omni..something or other. He knew the Gospel message would give people a choice to accept him or to reject him. But as I explained on Dan's blog he expects us to stay married with one another(even if one is lost) in order to lead them to Christ. He expects us to be at peace with all men. And just an extra one I'll throw in for free, "be ye kind one to another, especially unto those of the household of the faith." The reason he wants us to treat"the household of the faith" so well is so those on the outside of the church will see how we love one another, and be "jealous" and want to join us. We might fail at that way too much, but blame Christians, not our Creator.

I will now make the claim that Christianity is actually the most inclusive and least bigoted group you can ever be a part of. Eph. 2:14 says that he has made both groups one. (by raising from the dead). Who are these 2 groups? They were the Jews and the Gentiles.(that's everybody) Now mix in a little Gal.3:28 that says "there is neither Jew nor Greek, their is neither slave or free man, neither male or female, for you are all one in Christ. Christianity isn't based on what we can offer God. Or how rich we are, or how handsome we are, (In my case that's just a coincidence). And Christianity sure in hell isn't reserved just for those who are "good". Let me tell you what John says he saw in the book of Revelation during the end times about what the "Christians" look like. "After these things I looked, a great multitude, which no one could count, from every nation, and all tribes and people and tounges standing before the throne and the lamb..."

Yes, Christians can be bad people, and do horrible things, be judgemental, and be "unforgiving" and hypocritical etc. But if I'm to be forced to draw a line in the sand, all I can say is that I'm gonna stand on the side that Jesus is standing on.

As I navigate my way around the Atheist sites I've come across more and more Ex-Pastors who have now claimed they've become Atheist and or Agnostic. They usually list all there "religious" accomplishments. I was saved as a teenager, I went to the University of Jesus where I was voted most likely to be the best christian ever. I started a Church we were great, we fed the poor, baptized many souls, yadda yadda yadda.

Now if they say they were "saved" that's good enough for me. And We'll find out one day? I am a "once saved, always saved" kinda guy.

But here's something for them to think about, for every Preacher who leaves Christianity for the positive and encouraging future of the Atheist there are people who have been in the Church for years serving, singing, witnessing, teaching etc. that realize they need a savior. My Sister and her family go to a nice church up the road from us. We've gone there a few times when my nieces and nephews were performing or they had something involving food. But the Pastor of that Church had been there Pastor for about 40 years, and his wife just accepted the Lord.(she was probably about 65 years old?) She was very involved and kept real busy doing all the things that Pastor wives do.

Atheists often accuse Christians of going to church because it's comforting, there is singing/entertainment there, a sense of community, things for the kids. I would say "I go to praise God", those other things you mentioned are cool, but if you ain't there to worship your not gonna finish.

But Peter tells us, Ahh, but do not forget this one thing, dear friends, With the Lord a day is like a thousand years..... The Lord is not slow keeping his promise, as some understand slowness.

But if we still think he's taking his dear sweet time Peter gives a possible explanation, he says "He is patient with you, not wanting any to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

Everyone has their favorite SNL clip. My favorite one was when the super heroes were all throwing a birthday party for Lois Lane. Superman and his x-ray vision was blurting out what all the wrapped presents were. The Hulk (John Belushi) came out of the bathroom after abusing it with a hulk like bowel movement. But there was this one charachter played by garrett morris called the Ant Man. And all the other Super heroes were all gathered around a making fun of him, because his super power was being able to shrink himself to the size of an ant, yet still have the power of a human. OOh Uuuh wow, ant man has the power of a human, and they all start laughing. If you can find a clip of this via your computer, it's worth the watch.

This brings me to the difference between God and gods. Did you know that each of the 10 plauges mentioned in Exodus was God's way of dissing all these other so called god's?

Let's start out easy, we all know that Ra was the Egyptian sun god. So God made it dark for 3 days.

The first plague was turning the water from the Nile into blood, the Egyptians worshipped Hapi, god of the Nile.

The 2nd plague was a gazillion frogs all over the place, it just so happened the Egyptians worshipped some god called Heket, who resembled a man with a frog head.

The 4th plague was flies, yeah, you guessed it Kephri was a fly faced god of the Egyptians.

The 5th plague was death of cows, yep, they had a cow head god too. His name was Hathor.

Then there was Isis, the goddess of medicine, so God sent boils and sores on to them.(6th plague)

If you want all the other gods names etc. and where they fit in with the plagues I'll give them to you. But I wont insult your intelligence with any nmore for now. You get the picture.

There is only 1 God, and he desires a relationship with you. Take your pick, Superman or Ant man.

Just imagine it's a beautiful winter morning, nearing Christmas in your lovely Communist community. And as you and your sexy wife (Madalyn Murray O'Hare maybe) are sitting at your kitchen table reading Sagan watching snowflakes gently fall to the ground you realize just how good life is. Hell, there isn't even a Nativity Scene with in a hundred miles of your commune err I mean neighborhood. You and Madalyn are wearing your matching WWMSTD bracelets, (what would mao tse tung do) anyways life just couldn't be better.... but then little Suzie your only daughter one of your 1.5 kids and the cutest little Atheist in pig tales that you've ever seen, comes in and asks "Mommy, Daddy my friend from school (Karl Marx elementary school) wants to know if I can go to Sunday School with her, can I go please"?
