Go for it, you might not even get saved?

Easter Sunday will be here in less than a week. This will be one of those very few times where finding a parking place and a pew to sit in can be quite difficult. All that means is that people who don't like church or are unbelievers are just going to make someone happy. And that's honorable. I know a few Atheists who will still go to church with their spouse or a relative or a friend on special occasions to appease them. So join the club, if someone invites you to church this week, take them up on their offer. Or just go because feeno invited you. Then come back here and tell us what you thought.

You could kill 2 birds with one stone, first I would really love to hear about some of those experiences you all had. And second you'd make your Mama so happy.

Dueces, feeno

  1. Over the past six weeks, our pastor has been repeating a single statistic: 85% of people who don't go to church, would do so on Easter if invited by someone they know.

    Cheers.

  2. Some of you atheists should go to church at Easter time, if for no other reason than the pageantry. You can have a profoundly religious experience and at the end of the day, still hold on to your God disbelief if you so choose.

What do have to lose? You could even make a blog entry out of the experience. Link it up here and we'll check it out.

    Just a small vocabulary gripe...

Disbelief is not being able to believe something which, in all likelihood, is true--I can't believe it's not butter!

Nonbelief is more accurate when describing atheists, because most are non-theists to start with, they haven't technically disbelieved in anything. Unbeliever works in describing someone like me who has had a change of mind, because we have come to realize that we were misinformed.

Therefore none of the above actually believe in things that don't exist. It would be weird to say I disbelieve that one thing that isn't. Or to say I don't believe in things that don't exist. It comes off sounding a little redundant, and so that's why we never use disbelief to describe any category of non-believer.

    @Feeno-

And I like how Christians are always daring us to go to church. I too have a dare, I dare you nice and friendly socialites to go to church one last time!

It's already an outmoded institution, in my opinion. Why not get on living your life to its fullest instead of wasting time listening to ministers and men of faith preaching about the same old same old? I'm sure there are better more constructive things you could all be doing with your time.

    Just a suggestion.

  4. P.S.

You could write about your productivity and experiences in a blog!

    Couldn't resist that one.

    Have a good one!

  5. Yes, Tristan. That would be my challenge to them too. Skip it for a year. Do what the rest of us do. Keep going, because it makes no difference either way.

  6. Greetings Tink,

That's an interesting challenge and quite remarkable it would come just days before Easter. You have no idea how that comment fits so well with the Easter story.

In the book of Luke we read about Christ's triumphal entry. Christ, riding on His donkey through the streets of Jerusalem, just below the Mt. of Olives on His way to the cross which was just days away.

As He passed by, many of His followers began praising Him, singing and shouting.

Here's how the Bible tells it: Luke 19: 36-40 "Then the crowds spread out their coats on the road ahead of Jesus. As they reached the place where the road started down from the Mt. of Olives, all of His followers began to shout and sing as they walked along, praising God for all the miracles they had seen. Bless the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in highest heaven.

But some of the Pharisees among the crowd said teacher, rebuke your followers for saying things like that.

He (Jesus) replied "If they keep quiet, the stones along the road would burst into cheers!"

I think this is saying(?) If we all stop going to church and singing praises to our creator, the rocks would burst forth and praise Him.

Anyways I'm not asking anybody to go to church for one whole year, just one day.

Hope I see you there, Peace be with you. feeno

  10. Geenks,

What up yo. I deleted 2 of my posts and one of yours because they were double posts. I think something was the matter with the site?

Your right, God is everywhere, and I don't think people "need" church. But many do, including me. As much as I would like to see you in church Sunday, I'll let you stay home if it means I'm saving the life of a goat.

    Late, feeno

  12. Feeno was kinda worried to read on DC ,your faith is leading to loss of hair ....Now as a person of faith, you might need to considder if that was maybe? a "design" flaw.

Us non faithful easily understand its more to do with our breed :)

Anyway... wanted to wish you, family, friends, and all blog readers a very happy Easter too

May the almighty Easter bunny bless everyone with a wonderful chocolate overdose

  13. Feeno my friend...with regards to taking up the offer of "joining the club",personally i dont think its such a great idea for me.And i dont think you would really much enjoy hearing about it afterwards either.

A chocolate overdose experience makes me feel sick enough thanks, but lucky its not quite so harmful and damage isnt quite so horrid or long lasting.

Hi !, well it seems obvious to me, quite likely you dont live in NZ.

Here in NZ i think it would be more likely most people would be thinking, now why would i go and ruin a perfect Easter!?, by sitting on pews with people who still publically promote fraud, while also trying to all pretend to be honest folk.

These days most folks here cant see much sense in it.There is enough dishonesty around already, without also continuing "promotion" of dishonesty through promotion of god/churches.

We Kiwi`s seem to enjoy seeing our churches used for much better purposes, like being sold up and turned into resturants, nightclubs,or even houses etc

Good lookin' out. Happy Easter to you my friend. And don't overdose on chocolate.

This is only a suggestion, but for someone like you and the experiences you have had, I wouldn't expect you to go to a church like the one you were brought up in. I would think you'd be better off in one that wasn't very "legalistic".

As always thanks for checking in. I'm trying to find someone to help download a video. But even my girls are stumped. Hopefully I'll have it up in a few days.

  16. I actually am going on a church tour at the end of the year for the book that I am writing. I have not been in a church (other than for work) in 19 years. I fear that I will burst into flames when I walk through the doors. And, no, I really am not interested in what they are going to say.

What one of the lessor legalistic ones, that are still to gutless and who`s "words" of ohhh sorry you experienced being born amongst that abusive bunch of christians ....we care !

Sound worthless and hollow ! and only really serve to make them less legalistic christians feel good about themselves .

No not a good idea for me, Feeno my friend

Im likely to take along a baseball bat or something and use it to put a end to the bullshit words of continious dribble of their supposedly careing ...that hollow sound that often ooozes from these faithful folks mouths

To try and coax them into learning to take a little REAL honest "action" for a change.

These people will tell you how much they supposedly care about matters and tell you how terrible they think the abusive christian cults you were born in ... are etc blah blah...wank wank.

Then when you are not around, or when it comes down to the nitty-gritty the moment the chips are really layed out openly on the table.

They will all quietly pat people in these types of abusive groups on the back!,and display the "solidarity" of the bullshit surrounding old rights of the "freedom of faith" aspects.

I dont really think its such a good thing for me to even bother tryin to enjoy being amongst such two-faced c**ksuckers

    Why would i bother ?
