Can God be perfect if He's color blind?

Jesus was born 2,000 years ago in the Middle East. His Mama was a Jew. His Daddy was a Jew. He was born from the blood line of David and Abraham. The Bible tells us He went unto His own, and His own (the Jews) received Him not. How people could argue that Christ was anything but a Jew is mind numbing. When Jesus was born His skin was much closer to black than white.

There are 66 books in the Bible. All were written by Jews. Mostly about the Jews, and mostly to the Jews. Thank God I have been grafted in and have become an adopted son of Jesus.

Moses' old lady was a Cushite named Zipporah. She was black.
One of the many Bible babes was Bathsheba. You know about her from the story of David. She too was probably black. There was the Ethiopian Philip lead to the Lord.
And many other Ethiopians mentioned. I'm not even sure if there is a white guy even mentioned in the Bible?

None of that matters. It seems almost silly to even bring it up. God doesn't care about race, color, creed, gender. God is no respecter of person. Romans 2:11 says "He shows no favoritism".

If you want to get Biblicaly technical God did have a chosen people. There were the Jews and then everybody else. Everybody else was a Gentile. But God had a plan to use the Jews to reach the world. and when Jesus died on the cross Paul tells us "there is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male or female...." (Galatians 3:28) Earlier he said" For Christ Himself made peace between us Jews and Gentiles making us all one people....That is found in Ephesians 2:14-18, finish reading this if you get the chance.

There is only one race of people. The Human race. Nobody gets extra credit or bonus points from God for being a certain color.

I know you all agree with me. I believe this 'cause it's from the Bible. You believe it because your ethical and fair people. So why did I have to write this here in the year of 2010? Well Geenks, Tink, LX, JD and myself have encountered Marcus Wellington a blogger who comments over at JD's crib. I hope Marcus finds his way over here, reads this and maybe, just maybe asks God for forgiveness.

On top of Makarios' page it says "No one has done anything so bad that forgiveness isn't offered. And nobody is so good that for forgiveness isn't required". or something like that. I like that. We all need God.

  1. He was born from the blood line of David and Abraham.

Only if he's related to Joseph... but go on.

Romans 2:11 says "He shows no favoritism".

True, but it seems strange to us outsiders when we see a book where 4/5 of it glorifies the Jews as God's chosen people, then this whole policy is reversed... by Gentiles fluent in Greek.

Hmm... a bunch of Jews claim they are the chosen people, then non-Jews borrow their ideology, expand upon it, and in the process make it okay to not be Jewish. By the late 1930's, you have Christians who believe they are the chosen race, and they start getting rid of Jews. History is funny (but not ha ha funny).

Marcus is typical. He's not a majority, not even in any particular region of the US, but the Marcuses of the world are a pervasive presence. We've all met them. It isn't anything in particular that makes them that way. If we took away their religion, guns, trucks, camoflage trucker hats, chewing tobacco, and Larry the Cable Guy, they'd still be racist. Chances are their parents are to blame, but it's not like we're going to outlaw families.

Besides, maybe Marcus isn't even that racist. Maybe he's just the more open and honest. Maybe I'm racist...

Who am I kidding, it's just way too much fun to fuck someone of another ethnicity. It's like ordering out instead of cooking one of your mom's old recipes.

  2. Feeno- I wish that more were like you... Marcus is scary. I cannot imagine living in such a deluded, angry and cowardly world.

  3. Marcus would appear to subscribe to a specific subset of heretics that try to merge race with Christianity. It fails every time because it's teachings run directly counter to the Bible's teachings.

  4. It is a worry when people so obviously use their religions in the service of unrelated goals and viewpoints, especially when they're that odious. Unfortunately it's also very easy to do if you don't care that others refute your arguments.

Wellington seems content to say his piece, stand by it for a while and then move on. It's like the political "talking point" routine.

  5. Geenks,

On JD's post titled "Georgia Billboards link Race, Abortion" Marcus says "God has given us dominuem over the animals. With modern machinery we don't need as many blacks as before so maybe decreasing the black birthrate is a good idea.It would obviously be a humane thing to do as the black has PROVEN time and time again that they have no place in civilization. Sterilization of some of the males might be useful in decreasing the problem".

I think you must of missed that. I will give you an opportunity to make a new statement from your previous one of "Besides maybe Marcus isn't really that racist".

I'll never understand the love affair with Larry the Cable Guy? I just don't get it.

    Git-r-done, feeno

    Good lookin' out TB 13

JD, you said what I wanted to say, only you did it in about 5 less paragraphs.

LX, I have a feeling Marcus would have these same feelings whether he called himself a Christian or not?

I've read your last 2 "Questions for an Atheist". They are very interesting. I will try to get over there. I have a few questions.

  6. Sure, Marcus would probably be the same no matter what religion he was. My point was that he would probably try to use whatever his religion was to justify it, and in his own mind at least, succeed.

See you on ATA whenever you like, Feeno.

  7. Reading what feeno's quoted I am, at least surprised. I was gonna ask what did he do, but I think I get it now.
I mean, subconsciously, it is very likely that many of us are a little racist. It happens, people don't like to talk about it but it does. But then again, I'm usually pretty skeptic. So even if i want to, it's my nature not to trust people so much. And I mean everyone. I need more than just a few words or anything like that, I need to (do it, think it, believe it, know it,...) myself (not that I don't listen to people.). But I at least know this and try to avoid it. Eve if I can't, I always respect people.

  9. I read his comments. Any coward can be an internet blowhard and say we'd be better off without this race or that people, or that this group should die or that group should be marched off to camps.

The fact of the matter is, unless he's actually out there hurting people, he's no worse than anyone else who votes Republican.

  11. The idea that any human race is 'superior' to any other is completely false.

In a few of his books, notably 'Guns, Germs & Steel' and 'The Third Chimpanzee', author Jared Diamond makes it clear that the geographic lottery has played a crucial role in allowing civilizations to thrive or fail; The reason why European civilization has spread to the rest of the world is not due to the superiority of European people, but to a happy concurrence of favorable geographic circumstances in regards to availability of domesticable animals and plants, which allowed these societies to thrive, and eventually acquire technology and immunity from diseases.

Also, knowing that the entire human species originated in Africa, and that we are all related genetically, it is obvious that any theory of 'racial superiority' is bogus and flawed.

And I would argue that the advent of Christianity on the continent formerly known as "Christiandom' brought about numerous ideas that created stability and thus advancements could be made.

  13. I'd go between the two and say that although the advent of expansionist Christianity helped to spread many such ideas, it didn't bring many of them about in the first place.

  14. "And I would argue that the advent of Christianity on the continent formerly known as "Christiandom' brought about numerous ideas that created stability and thus advancements could be made."

Many other tribes once had their faith set more in "naturalist" type views of caring for mother earth etc,and their morals were centred more around harmonizing with earth, conservation and survival etc.

Some of the wisdom of these old "naturalist" moral thoughts are being revived and re applied more and more often again today!!, in hope of obtaining some sort of actual "stability" , to try to avoid the depletion of certain supplys, so that in future humanity might even have any hope to continue to be able to "advance".

Faithful folks that had faith in after lives ,often created this type of attitude that seemed to think maybe this world was kinda totally expendable.(Because gods were thought to supposedly always come to the aid of humans and provided us "another place" somewhere, they trusted gods would take care of our "future" needs.)

Making this earth thought by many, like it was just some type of holiday stop-over fit for using and abusing by a sort of "faith tourism", treating planet earth like some blip in between here and some final special destination, known as "salvation".

Unbeknown to salvationists, their idea of salvation which had long lulled the faithful into spreading the doctrine, of biblical rights to earthly planetary abuse ,was maybe infact sending humans and life on earth faster and faster towards possibilities of their impending doom....So much for the idea of "salvation"!.

So for sure the christian faith like any faith had its fair share of advancements and helped humanity, as did many cultures.

But christianity also sure made its fair share of detrimental effects on us too.

This Marcus sounds like he is just a extention of one of these ideology ,or even a mixture of a few ideologies put together maybe. Thats ended up in him personally making some rather extreme sounding conclusions.

The sooner humans ALL start to agree to admit NO culture really ever had any right to claim any high moral road, and simply agree most folks all had some good ideas to add to humanity.

The more likely racism and even threat of nuclear war will cease to exist.

While attitudes and role models exist connected to many faiths displayed to our societys is biased and bigoted, segregated and set on trying to claim higher ground etc. I cant see why or how we should ever hope to expect all society and even Marcus might likely develope minds that lack any racism.

JD claims Christianity as top dog, some Muslim elswhere goes and claims Muhammad for Islam.Somebody in India hacks the head off a goat, cow, chicken, and attacks some local christians.

Only when faiths all start admitting nobody really knew any better than anyone else, and nobody idea of gods was ever really superior. Is it likely got any hope to change, because faiths are often societies base role models.

As societys biggest base role models, while there is still faithful around looking to promote elitism through faith. The rest of soceity doesnt really stand much of a chance to ever be without things such as racism.

Dreadfully sorry JD,is any redemption for these very grave types of sins even possible for salvation?.

Should i stone myself to death? or ask the local JW if they would be prepared to carry out the process?
